Organizations Filed Purposes: WE CULTIVATE HUMAN POTENTIAL AND IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INCLUDES OCCUPATIONAL, PHYSICAL OR SPEECH THERAPIES IN WHICH A LICENSED THERAPIST USES THE MOVEMENT OF A HORSE FOR THERAPEUTIC PURPOSES, ALSO KNOWN AS HIPPOTHERAPY. FOR PATIENTS RECOVERING FROM INJURY, OR HAVE A CHRONIC PHYSICAL DISABILITY, HIPPOTHERAPY IS AN EXCELLENT MODALITY FOR IMPROVING FUNCTIONAL MOBILITY. SESSIONS ARE CONDUCTED MOUNTED OR ON THE GROUND. PATIENT AND THERAPIST DEVELOP GOALS AND TREATMENT PLANS FOR FUNCTIONAL IMPROVEMENTS. GOALS DO NOT INVOLVE HORSEMANSHIP AND ARE STRICTLY FOCUSED ON PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENTS IN BALANCE, PROPRIOCEPTION, RANGE OF MOTION, POSTURAL CONTROL, MUSCULAR STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE, AND CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS. PATIENTS ARE REFERRED BY THEIR PHYSICIANS AND THERAPISTS.

THERAPEUTIC RIDING IS AN EXCELLENT FORM OF EXERCISE THERAPY THAT IS FUN, SAFE, CHALLENGING AND SOCIALLY REWARDING FOR PARTICIPANTS WITH PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL OR COGNITIVE DISABILITIES. THE GOALS REVOLVE AROUND LEARNING HORSEMANSHIP, BASIC RIDING SKILLS AND MANY TIMES LEARNING A SPECIFIC RIDING DISCIPLINE SUCH AS DRESSAGE OR WESTERN PLEASURE. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS PAID TO FACILITATING IMPROVEMENTS IN PHYSICAL FITNESS, SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SOCIAL INTERACTION BASED ON INDIVIDUAL'S NEEDS. OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE SPECIALLY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED TO INSTRUCT CLIENTS WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DISABILITIES. SESSIONS ARE CONDUCTED IN OUR COVERED RIDING ARENA, PASTURES AND ROUND PEN. PARTICIPANTS IN OUR THERAPEUTIC EQUINE PROGRAMS ARE SELF-REFERRED OR ARE REFERRED BY A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE A MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM, FAMILY FUN DAYS, CERTIFICATION COURSES FOR MEDICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENTS IN RELATED FIELDS. OUR MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM FEATURES SPECIALLY DESIGNED ACTIVITIES WITH HORSES TO FACILITATE EMOTIONAL AND RELATIONAL GROWTH. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR ISSUES RELATED TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE, TRAUMA RECOVERY AND GRIEF WORK, AND PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. FAMILY FUN DAYS ARE HOSTED FOR DISCRETE POPULATIONS TO MAXIMIZE PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT. POPULATIONS INCLUDE MILITARY, KIDS AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, PEDIATRIC CANCER PATIENTS, AND THEIR FAMILIES. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE A PICNIC LUNCH, PONY RIDES, ARTS AND CRAFTS, AND VARIOUS OUTDOOR GAMES AND ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE ENGAGEMENT WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
