Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE ORGANIZATION SERVES THREE DISTINCT MISSIONS IN THE COMMUNITY. 1) THEY PROVIDE FEDERATED FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AND SUBSEQUENT GRANTS TO OTHER CHARITIES AND THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF NORTH AMERICA. 2) THEY PROVIDE SOCIAL SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY IN THE FORM OF FOOD, CLOTHING, RENT, UTILITIES AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES. 3) THEY ARE A RESOURCE OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION REGARDING JEWISH HERITAGE.
FEDERATED FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES
CASE WORK AND DIRECT FINANCIAL AID TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES CONSISTING OF FOOD, CLOTHING, INFORMATION AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH THE UTILITIES OR RENT AND REFERRAL SERVICE TO OTHER AGENCIES. 23,500 PEOPLE RECEIVED TEN DAYS' WORTH OF FOOD INCLUDING MEAT, AND FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, JUICE, CEREAL, AND PASTRIES FROM THE JERRY DOLINER FOOD BANK. 2,080 PEOPLE RECEIVED CLOTHING, 9,095 RECEIVED HOUSEHOLD GOODS OR FURNITURE, 35 FAMILIES RECEIVED RENTAL OR UTILITY ASSISTANCE, 27 PEOPLE RECEIVED HELP WITH MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, AND 7 FAMILIES RECEIVED HELP WITH PRESCRIPTION COSTS. 100 JEWISH ELDERLY, 80 YEARS OR OLDER, AND RESIDENTS OF ASSISTED LIVING OR NURSING HOMES BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC WERE PROVIDED WITH GIFTS, STAMPS, MASKS, HYGIENIC PRODUCTS AND OTHER SUNDRY ITEMS.101 FAMILIES RECEIVED TOYS FOR THEIR CHILDREN, AND 125 TWEENS RECEIVED GIFT CARDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS. INDIVIDUALS ARE PROVIDED ASSITANCE REGARDLESS OF THEIR RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION. NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE SERVED WERE NOT OF THE JEWISH FAITH.
SCHOOL SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION TO NEEDY CHILDREN. 7,705 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH AGE APPROPRIATE SUPPLIES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO LESS FORTUNATE YOUTHS IN ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS, AND ADULTS ENROLLED IN GED PROGRAMS.
PROVIDE COMMUNITY EVENTS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC. GRANTS ARE PAYMENTS TO THEIR AFFILIATE, THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF NORTH AMERICA. THE ORGANIZATION IS THE MAIN CONTRIBUTOR TO PUT ON THE HERITAGE FESTIVAL.
