History and Mission: Truly Valued, Inc. (formerly I Am More, Inc.) was established in 2014 by a small group of volunteers as a community based outreach event called Tea Party 4 Girls serving 30 girls. Chartered as a 501 (c)(3) organization in 2016, Truly Valued expanded its operational reach by serving up to 130 girls and establishing formal mentoring, educational and career exploration programming for adolescent girls in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. In 2018, Truly Valued served more than 1,800 low-income youth through a variety of activities designed to provide knowledge, skills and inspiration that will help them grow to lead happy, successful lives as adults. Mission: Our mission is to promote positive self-esteem, education, confidence and character among teen girls.
Priceless Girls Mentoring Program is designed to help cultivate the skills that adolescent girls need to develop as successful adults with a strong sense of their own identity. The innovative, group-style mentoring program empowers through direct instruction, experiential learning, as well as trust and team building activities designed to improve confidence and respect for others. The program focuses on exposing the girls to a variety of learning experiences via hands-on activities focused on the arts, etiquette, communication, health and wellness, career exploration, academics and community service. This program provides a high-quality system of support for young ladies and provides tools to encourage positive decision making. Tea Party 4 Girls These events are designed to empower our youth through conversations with professional women who live and work in their own community. They share their experience and expertise, bringing a wealth of knowledge from backgrounds in law enforcement, politics, entrepreneurship, arts and entertainment. One-Sack Give Back A project to assemble and distribute backpacks of school supplies to low-income students in our community to assist them through the school year. In 2018, Truly Valued provided 1,647 backpacks filled with school supplies, accumulating more than 100 service hours.
Truly Valued extends opportunities for youth to participate in activities during the summer such as camp, college bound tours or a variety of service projects to promote social engagement. Summer Enrichment provides a safe environment for them to gain self-confidence as they learn new skills such as problem solving and interpersonal skills.
