Organizations Filed Purposes: DEBBIES DREAM FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO ADVANCING FUNDING FOR STOMACH CANCER RESEARCH, CREATING AWARENESS ABOUT THE DISEASE, AND PROVIDING EDUCATION AND SUPPORT INTERNATIONALLY FOR PATIENTS, FAMILIES, AND CAREGIVERS.

RESEARCH GRANT FUNDING - THE RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM EMPLOYS A COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY TO ADVANCE STOMACH CANCER RESEARCH BY DIRECTLY FUNDING RESEARCH GRANTS, WORKING WITH OUR GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS TEAM TO ADVOCATE FOR MORE RESOURCES FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE DISEASE, AND FACILITATING INTERACTIONS AND COLLABORATIONS WITHIN THE RESEARCH COMMUNITY. WE HAVE A DIVERSE RESEARCH GRANTS PORTFOLIO THAT IS DESIGNED TO EXPEDITE SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS FOR PATIENT BENEFIT. THE GRANTS PROGRAM USES A RIGOROUS, PEER-REVIEW SYSTEM TO ENSURE THAT THE VERY BEST SCIENCE FROM INSTITUTIONS AROUND THE COUNTRY IS FUNDED. THE PROGRAM IS EVALUATED ANNUALLY TO ENSURE IMPACT AND RESULTS.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS AND ADVOCACY - THE GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM IN WASHINGTON, D.C., FOCUSES ON EDUCATING ELECTED OFFICIALS ABOUT STOMACH CANCER AND THE NEED TO INCREASE FEDERAL RESEARCH FUNDING DEDICATED TO THE DISEASE. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS MORE DOLLARS FOR CANCER RESEARCH THAN ANY PRIVATE ENTITY. THEREFORE, WE AUGMENT PRIVATE RESEARCH FUNDING WITH AGGRESSIVE ADVOCACY FOR INCREASED FEDERAL DOLLARS FOR STOMACH CANCER. OUR EFFORTS INCLUDE BRINGING SUPPORTERS EACH YEAR TO WASHINGTON, D.C., TO EDUCATE THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS ABOUT THE DISEASE AND THE URGENT NEED TO TAKE ACTION.

PATIENT RESOURCE EDUCATION PROGRAM (PREP) - PREP IS A COMPREHENSIVE, FREE INFORMATION AND EDUCATION SERVICE FOR STOMACH CANCER PATIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND CAREGIVERS. WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL INQUIRERS THROUGH PREP, THEY ARE MATCHED WITH A MENTOR USING SPECIFIC CRITERIA SUCH AS STAGE, BIOMARKER, AGE, GENDER AND REGION (WHENEVER POSSIBLE) WHO ARE AVAILABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND PROVIDE INFORMATION AND SUPPORT. THE PROGRAM IS THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND PROVIDING PEER-TO-PEER EXPERIENCES ABOUT DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT OPTIONS, CLINICAL TRIALS, DIET AND NUTRITION, SPECIALISTS, AND SUPPORT RESOURCES. PREP ALSO HOSTS LIVE, INTERACTIVE EDUCATIONAL EVENTS AND WEBINARS FOR STOMACH CANCER PATIENTS, THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS. THE GOAL OF THE PREP PROGRAM IS TO HELP PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THE DISEASE.
