ATP activities for the year include providing services and benefits for its members, promoting and growing the sport of tennis and administrating a circuit of professional tennis events.
ATP continued to deliver value to its members through sponsorship, TV, prize money, and pension benefits. On-site prize money on the ATP Tour reached a record US$ 135 million in 2018, with a player bonus pool of US$ 10,000,000. Meanwhile, the ATP Player Pension delivered a record US$ $10,500,000 contribution to all eligible players in 2018. On the ATP Challenger Tour, total prize money increased to US$ 13.4 million.
The ATP's marketing and promotional efforts continued to grow men's professional tennis in 2018 as 4.5 million fans attended ATP Tour events, the second highest number in the history of the Tour. Approximately 919 million viewers tuned in on television and online, while the ATP's weekly magazine TV show, ATP Tour Uncovered, attracted more than 65 million viewers throughout the season. The ATP's marketing campaign, "Greatness Within", was utilized by approximately 40 tournaments worldwide, while the ATP announced a new worldwide marketing campaign, "Love It All", as well as a new ATP brand identity, to be rolled out in 2019. The Tour's official website, ATPTour.com, attracted 142 million visits, with total website page impressions reaching 561 million, and the ATP, its players & tournaments, generated a social media following of more than 145 million people.
The ATP successfully governed the men's professional tennis circuits - the ATP Tour; the ATP Challenger Tour; and the ATP Champions Tour. The ATP World Tour featured 64 tournaments in 31 countries, while the prestigious season-ending ATP Finals was held in London for the 10th consecutive year, attracting more than 243,000 fans to The O2 and bringing the cumulative attendance for the event since 2009 to more than 2.5 million. The ATP successfully staged the second edition of the award-winning Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, a tournament designed to promote the future stars of the sport as well as to trial rule changes and innovation. The ATP also announced the creation of a new ATP team competition, the ATP Cup, to be launched in January 2020 across three cities in Australia with a total prize money of US$ 15 million, in partnership with Tennis Australia. Meanwhile, the ATP Challenger Tour featured 159 tournaments in 40 countries in its role as a stepping stone for players aspiring to compete on the main ATP Tour.
