Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Early Learning Coalition of Florida's Heartland, Inc. is to support families and children in accessing high quality early care and education services via School Readiness and Voluntary Prekindergarten programs.
School Readiness Scholarships were provided to over 3,614 children from over 1,802 families in Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee and Highlands Counties. Scholarships are financial assistance for child care awarded to eligible families.
Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) services were provided to approximately 2,024 children from approximately 1,979 families. VPK is the provision of a free preschool service to all children residing in Florida the year prior to kindergarten. Children served by the ELCFH for VPK reside in Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee or Highlands Counties. As an extension of VPK services, an Outreach, Awareness and Monitioring Initiative was conducted to support public awareness of VPK and during-the-award monitoring of approximately 82 VPK providers to ensure proper VPK administration.
CARES includes funding through the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) to help certain low-income families access child care and to improve the quality of child care for all children.
