THE JOHN & MABLE RINGLING MUSEUM OF ART FOUNDATION, INC. IS A DIRECT-SUPPORT ORGANIZATION AS DEFINED IN FLORIDA STATUTE 1004.45 FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE JOHN & MABLE RINGLING MUSEUM OF ART. THE MUSEUM, AS THE STATE ART MUSEUM OF FLORIDA, IS OPERATED BY FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY'S COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TO THE MUSEUM IN ORDER TO ENHANCE AND ENRICH THE EXPERIENCE OF ITS GUESTS (OVER 400,000 VISITED THE MUSEUM THIS PAST YEAR). EXAMPLES OF THE SUPPORT FROM THE FOUNDATION INCLUDE SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS, EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS, MUSIC, DANCE, DRAMA, AND CIRCUS PROGRAMS. THE MUSEUM IS THE LARGEST MUSEUM/UNIVERISTY COMPLEX IN THE UNITED STATES AND HELPS TO CONTINUE THE LEGACY OF JOHN RINGLING. JOHN RINGLING (1886-1936) WAS ONE OF THE GREAT BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURS OF HIS DAY, INVESTING NOT ONLY IN THE CIRCUS, BUT ALSO REAL ESTATE, TRANSPORTATION AND PETROLEUM HOLDINGS.

THE 2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR FEATURED 13 EXHIBITIONS IN THE SEARING WING, TIBBALS LEARNING CENTER, THE RENOVATED CIRCUS MUSEUM AND MONDA GALLERY OF CONTEMPORARY ART. OF THESE, THREE WERE LARGE EXHIBITIONS FEATURED IN THE SEARING EXHIBITION GALLERIES, TWO WERE EXHIBITIONS IN THE MONDA GALLERY, AND SEVEN WERE SMALLER SCALE EXHIBITIONS DRAWN PRIMARILY FROM OUR PERMANENT COLLECTIONS OF WORKS ON PAPER, PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO, AND CIRCUS POSTERS. EXHIBITIONS OF SPECIAL NOTE WERE:THE FABRIC OF INDIA: SHOWCASED OVER 140 SUPERB EXAMPLES DRAWN FROM THE INTERNATIONALLY-RENOWNED HOLDINGS OF LONDON'S VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM AND PRIVATE COLLECTIONS. THE FABRIC OF INDIA ILLUSTRATES THE VARIETY, TECHNICAL SOPHISTICATION, AND ADAPTABILITY OF INDIAN TEXTILES FROM THE FIFTEENTH TO THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURIES. THROUGH A STUNNING RANGE OF HISTORICAL DRESS, CAREFULLY PRESERVED FABRICS, AND CUTTING-EDGE FASHION, VIEWERS DISCOVERED HOW INDIAN TEXTILES HAVE BEEN INTERWOVEN WITH RELIGION, POLITICS, AND GLOBAL TRADE FOR CENTURIES.AI WEIWEI: ZODIAC (2018) LEGO: A SERIES OF INDIVIDUAL WORKS THAT ARE CONSTRUCTED OF LEGO BRICKS TO REPRESENT THE FOLLOWING ANIMALS: RAT, OX, TIGER, RABBIT, DRAGON, SNAKE, HORSE, RAM, MONKEY, ROOSTER, DOG AND PIG. THE RINGLING IS THE FIRST MUSEUM IN THE UNITED STATES TO SHOW THIS TRAVELING EXHIBITION. THESE COLORFUL WORKS ARE MADE ENTIRELY OF SMALL LEGO PIECES AND DEMONSTRATE THE ARTIST'S CONTINUED INTEREST IN THE ZODIAC ANIMAL CONCEPT.

MAINTAINING, INTERPRETING, AND CONSERVING THE PERMANENT COLLECTION OF OVER 20,000 OBJECTS, AN ARCHIVES COLLECTION AND AN ART RESEARCH LIBRARY OF 85,000 HOLDINGS THAT SERVES THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE MUSEUM HAD OVER 300,000 VISITORS AND OVER 8,500 MEMBERS.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES ARE OFFERED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, EDUCATORS, AND STUDENTS FROM ELEMENTARY TO UNIVERSITY LEVEL. PROGRAMS INCLUDE LECTURES ON THE ARTS AND HISTORY OF THE CIRCUS, FAMILY EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES IN THE GALLERIES, LESSON PLANS FOR EDUCATORS ABOUT THE RINGLING COLLECTIONS, UNIVERSITY-LEVEL SEMINARS ON A SPECTRUM OF CULTURAL TOPICS, AND UNIVERSITY INTERN PROGRAMS IN WHICH STUDENTS OBTAIN AN OVERVIEW OF THE BUSINESS OF MUSEUMS.
