Organizations Filed Purposes: UNITED WAY OF ST. JOHNS COUNTY FIGHTS FOR THE EDUCATION, HEALTH AND FINANCIAL STABILITY FOR EVERY PERSON IN OUR COMMUNITY BY FOCUSING ON THE THINGS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR A GOOD LIFE: A QUALITY EDUCATION THAT LEADS TO A STABLE JOB, ENOUGH INCOME TO SUPPORT A FAMILY THROUGH RETIREMENT AND GOOD HEALTH.

TO POSITIVELY IMPACT LIVES IN ST. JOHNS AND PUTNAM COUNTIES. THE VISION IS TO INSPIRE AND LEAD A COMMUNITY UNITED IN PROVIDING TRANSFORMATIVE HEALTH, EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL STABILITY FOR ALL GENERATIONS BY COLLABORATING WITH DONORS, PARTNERS AND VOLUNTEERS.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT: UNITED WAY OF ST. JOHNS COUNTY STRATEGICALLY INVESTS IN QUALITY PROGRAMS, BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS, ADVOCATING FOR BETTER POLICIES, ENGAGING OUR COMMUNITY, AND LEVERAGING RESOURCES. ONE AREA OF INVESTMENT IS THROUGH COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS PROVIDED TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY WHO FOCUS ON EDUCATION, HEALTH, AND FINANCIAL STABILITY. THE PROCESS USUALLY ENGAGES NUMEROUS COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO VISIT AND REVIEW PROGRAMS. THIS YEAR THE PANDEMIC SHIFTED THE PROCESS. TWENTY-EIGHT GRANTS WERE APPROVED FOR AGENCIES WITH AN EARLIER PAYOUT TO HELP ORGANIZATIONS CONTINUE SERVICES FOR THE COMMUNITY DURING THE PANDEMIC.

COVID-19 RESPONSE: THE PANDEMIC IMPACTED MANY FAMILIES AS NEVER BEFORE, HIGHLIGHTING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK IN THE COMMUNITY. GRANTS TO FOOD PANTRIES, FOOD DRIVES, AND FOOD GIVEAWAYS ALONG WITH GROCERY GIFT CARD PROGRAMS HELPED FAMILIES WITH FOOD INSECURITIES IN BOTH ST. JOHNS AND PUTNAM COUNTIES. OVER 47,000 LBS. OF FOOD, 290 VOLUNTEER HOURS, AND 1,200 DONORS HELPED RESTOCK 22 CRITICALLY LOW FOOD PANTRIES IN ST. JOHNS COUNTY. EIGHT PUTNAM COUNTY PANTRIES RECEIVED $23,000 IN MICROGRANTS TO RESPOND TO SIMILAR NEEDS. COLLABORATING WITH LOCAL CHEFS, THE CITY OF ST. AUGUSTINE, ST. JOHNS RIVER STATE COLLEGE AND OTHERS, 7,800 BOXES OF FRESH PRODUCE MEAL KITS A TOTAL OF 156,000 MEALS WERE PROVIDED TO ST. JOHNS AND PUTNAM RESIDENTS. 171 VOLUNTEERS DONATED 660 HOURS DURING NINE EVENTS. UNITED WAY PARTNERED WITH THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. AUGUSTINE TO DELIVER OVER $25,000 IN GROCERY GIFT CARDS AND COLLABORATED WITH CARE CONNECT TO PROVIDE ANOTHER $5,250 IN GROCERY GIFT CARDS TO AREA FAMILIES IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC.

HOLIDAY TIME ASSISTANCE: SUPPORTED BY COMMUNITY DONATIONS SINCE THE 1980'S, THE EMPTY STOCKING FUND ASSISTS VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND SENIORS WITH FUNDS FOR FOOD, CLOTHING, OR TOYS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON. MANAGEMENT TRANSITIONED TO UNITED WAY OF ST. JOHNS COUNTY IN 2018. 550 FAMILIES AND SENIORS WERE SERVED THIS YEAR. UW-SJC ALSO PROVIDED THANKSGIVING MEALS FOR A STRUGGLING COMMUNITY.
