OUR GOAL IS TO UNITE A TEAM OF 25 VOLUNTEERS WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELDS OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSE, PUBLIC SAFETY, AND CONSTRUCTION, WHO ARE WILLING AND READY TO DEPLOY WITHIN DAYS OF A DISASTER STRIKING. ONCE MOBILIZED, THIS TEAM OF HELPING HANDS WILL WORK TOWARD RE-STABILIZING THESE COMMUNITIES BY CLEARING DEBRIS, PROVIDING NECESSARY MEDICAL ATTENTION, ESTABLISHING DISTRIBUTIONS CENTERS FOR DONATED FOOD AND SUPPLIES, AND REBUILDING HOMES, SHELTERS, CHURCHES, AND SCHOOLS. 25 UNITED WILL AID IN ESTABLISING A RELIEF INFRASTRUCTURE UNIQUE TO EACH REGION OF DEPLOYMENT AND FACILITATE IMMEDIATE DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS. OUR MISSION IS TO RESTORE A WAY OF LIFE BACK INTO THESE COMMUNITIES AND HELP THEM ACIEVE SELF-SUSTAINABILITY.
25 UNITED IS COMMITTED TO RESTORING HOPE AND LIFE IN THE AFTERMATH OF DISASTER.
IN SEPTEMBER 2019, HURRICANE DORIAN MADE LANDFALL ON THE ABACO ISLANDS IN THE BAHAMAS AS THE STRONGEST HURRICANE ON RECORD TO HIT THE AREA. WITHIN DAYS OF THE STORM'S PASSING, VOLUNTEERS FROM THE STUART, FLORIDA AREA SET UP A DONATION SITE FOR CRITICAL SUPPLIES INCLUDING MEDICAL, FOOD, WATER, CLOTHING, GENERATORS, AND BABY SUPPLIES THROUGH A LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. IN OCTOBER 2019, 25 UNITED WAS ESTABLISHED TO TAKE OVER THE DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS. IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, 25 UNITED FLEW APPROXIMATELY 20 TRIPS FROM STUART, FLORIDA TO THE ABACO ISLANDS ON ROTATING 3-4 DAY DEPLOYMENTS OF VOLUNTEERS. THESE VOLUNTEERS, SOME FROM OUT OF STATE, PROVIDED BOTH SKILLED AND GENERAL LABOR FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET DISTRIBUTING CRITICAL SUPPLIES, CLEARING DEBRIS FROM THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF NATIVE'S HOMES, SCHOOLS, AND CHURCHES, GUTTING DAMAGED WALLS AND CEILINGS, AND STRIPPING DAMAGED ROOFS TO PROVIDE RESIDENTS PROTECTION FROM RAIN. IN THE TIME 25 UNITED WAS ABLE TO DEPLOY TEAMS AND DISTRIBUTE SUPPLIES, 85 VOLUNTEERS SPENT OVER 6,500 HOURS IN THE ISLANDS. BACK IN STUART, FLORIDA, 25 UNITED CONTINUED TO FACILITATE COLLECTING, SORTING, BOXING, AND SHIPPING OF MUCH NEEDED SUPPLIES. 25 UNITED WAS ALSO ABLE TO FACILITATE THE DONATION OF A FIRE TRUCK, AN AMBULANCE, AND APPROXIMATELY 80 SETS OF FIRE GEAR FROM LOCAL FLORIDA GOVERNMENTS TO REPLACE THE EQUIPMENT DESTROYED BY THE HURRICANE.
IN JUNE 2020, TORRENTIAL RAIN IMPACTED THE TOWN OF HOBE SOUND, FLORIDA CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL FLOODING TO A RESIDENTIAL AREA OF LIMITED MEANS.
