Organizations Filed Purposes:
Leon County works to preserve and promote agriculture and to protect the American Family farming way of life.
In February we participated in Food Check-Out Week. This annual event is meant to bring awareness to the public of the abundance of fresh and nutrious food available to consumers at affordable prices.
Leon County was notable to attend schools to participate in Ag Literacy Day due to COVID 19, however we decided to read virtually. Weekly videos were produced where volunteers read about farming and agriculture to students. The county offered supplemental lesson worksheets on farming and agriculture which were available upon request.
Leon County Farm Bureau participated in Farm-City Week. Farm-City is a time set aside to bridge the gap between those living on farms and ranches and those living in urban areas. This year, donations by farmers and ranchers helped support local food banks.
