The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Inc. is dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. Our vision is "leading the way because every life counts."
In 2020, 3,811 pets were surrendered by their owners to the shelter. 5,928 local stray animals were rescued. 736 pets were transferred from other Florida shelters and 1,457 pets were transferred in from high-risk shelters outside of Florida. 93% of these pets or 10,420 were saved by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay by providing temporary shelter for these homeless animals, placing these pets with responsible and prepared pet owners, spaying or neutering all animals prior to adoption, providing preventive medical care and treatment of illness and injury as well as microchipping.
Animal Health Center - offers affordable full service veterinary care to the public and provides the proper preventive treatment so pets can be protected from diseases. In 2020, 44,535 dogs and cats were seen at the Health Center. 32,529 pets received wellness exams, 5,958 pets received sterilizations, including 3,853 feral cats. Affordable healthcare helps owners keep their pets rather than relinquish them.
Community Outreach- Provides public education for the proper care and treatment of animals. Thousands of people are educated through distribution of educational material, newsletters and our website. Food assistance - Helping people keep their pets by providing 113,358 pounds of free pet food.
