PARTICIPANTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD PAY A FEE TO PARTICIPATE IN TAX-EXEMPT PROGRAM ACTIVITIES AT THE ORGANIZATION'S LEADING CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN CRPS. SUCH FEES ARE APPLIED TOWARD THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CRPS. THIS ACTIVITY FORMS THE BASIS FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION INITIATIVES, INCLUDING THE CREATION OF MULTIMEDIA EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL ON CRPS THAT DOCUMENTS EACH PARTICIPANT'S CARE PROVIDED BY THE ORGANIZATION. THUS, UNDERGOING THE TREATMENT AND RECEIVING A FEE-FOR- SERVICE IS CORE TO THE ORGANIZATION'S EDUCATION MISSION.
THE ORGANIZATION FUNDS CLINICAL INVESTIGATION AND MEDICAL RESEARCH PROJECTS THROUGHT THE WORLD. ONE TYPE OF PROJECT IS A MULTICENTER KETAMINE COMA STUDY. TO QUALIFY FOR KETAMINE COMA STUDY, THE RESEARCH PROTOCOL MANDATES AND THE INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD REQUIRE THAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE FAILED ALL REASONABLE TREATMENT OPTIONS. A STUDY OR PROJECT WILL NOT RECEIVE FUNDING FROM THE ORGANIZATION UNLESS ONE OR MORE PHYSICIANS OF A UNITED STATES UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, MEDICAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION OR MEDICAL SCHOOL IS A CO-INVESTIGATOR OF SUCH STUDY OR PROJECT. THE ORGANIZATION INTENDS TO DISCLOSE THE RESULTS OF ANY SUCH STUDY OR PROJECT TO THE EXTENT THE ORGANIZATION IS PERMITTED TO DO SO BY THE RESEARCHERS. THE ORGANIZATION WILL FORM A SCIENTFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO REVIEW PROPOSED AND ONGOING CLINICAL INVESTIGATIONS AND RESEARCH ROJECTS THAT WILL BE USED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR FUNDING. THE RESULTS OF A 10-YEAR STUDY ON HOW TO OPTIMIZE THE TREATMENT OF COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME WAS PUBLISHED IN A PEER REVIEWED, 2019 JOURNAL, "CLINICAL JOURNAL OF PAIN". THE TITLE OF THE PAPER IS "OPTIMIZING THE TREATMENT OF CRPS WITH KETAMINE".
THE ORGANIZATION USES CASE STUDIES FROM ITS FEE FOR SERVICE ACTIVITIES TO EDUCATE PHYSICIANS, INSURSANCE COMPANIES, GOVERNMNET AGENCIES, PATIENTS AND OTHERS REGARDING THE DISEASE AND TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS. THIS INCLUDES THE PREPARATION AND DISTRIBUTION OR INFORMATIONAL BROUCHERS, VIDEOS AND DVDS THAT DESCRIBE THE DISEASE (INCLUDING ITS SYMPTOMS, POSSIBLE CAUSES AND AVAILABLE TREATMENTS) AND EXPLAN THE NEED FOR FUNDING TO FIND A CURE. NUMEROUS EMALIS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO EDUCATE AND INFORM DOCTORS AND PATIENTS ON TOPICS SUCH AS PRESCRIBING OPIOIDS; PREVENTING HYPERALGESIA AFTER SURGERY; POSTOPERATIVE PAIN CONTROL IN PATIENTS WITH CRPS; STREE AND CRPS; AND THE "NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTA; HEALTH'-S' PUBLICATION ON KETAMINE; "A NEW AND FASTER WAY TO TREAT DEPRESSION." THE ORGANIZATION ALSO ESTABLISHED A CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PHYSICIANS AT ITS HEADQUARTERS IN TAMPA, FLORIDA.
