Organizations Filed Purposes:
Formed in July 2017 the aim and purpose of the Indian River County Youth Livestock and Horticulture Inc is to promote and encourage the work of 4-H Clubs, Future Farmers of America, and adult leaders of Indian River County in promoting any phase of the agriculture industry. Goals: 1. To promote Livestock, horticulture and the agriculture industry in the community, involving youth, and members of their families and community. 2. To teach youth fundamentals and professionalism of animal husbandry and business. 3. To plan and host successful local livestock and horticulture shows highlighting the youth of Indian River County. 4. The main emphasis will not be on profit, but the project as a learning tool to build and develop respectable and responsible young adults with marketable skills.
Support youth in agriculture through educational activities, to help teach good animal husbandry, ethics, and a promote a positive work ethic. The hosting of an annual livestock and horticulture show and auction to highlight youth of Indian River County's work at our local county fair.
IRCYLH hosted a prospect show that was open to youth from across the state of Florida. This educational activity gives youth practice at working with their animals and gives them an opportunity to show what they have learned in front of a broad audience of their peers and those in the agriculture community.
IRCYLH hosted an Ag Bonanza in where judges and experts in there fields of specialty (swine, cattle, poultry, citrus, goat, rabbit and cavy) were present to host hands on educational activities and training for youth if Indian River and surrounding counties.
IRCYLH hosted the 2018 Fire Fighters Fair Show and Auction in March of 2018. 150 youth raised and presented for show over 250 projects over a week long event that highlights the work of the youth exhibitors over the period of the past 4 - 18 months.
