Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL RESIDENTS NOW AND FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS; TO BUILD PERMANENT ENDOWMENTS, TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP ON RELEVANT ISSUES, AND TO ADDRESS NEEDS THROUGH GRANTMAKING. AS PART OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION'S GRANTMAKING FOCUSES ON DISCOVERING COLLECTIVE IMPACT PARTNERSHIPS AND LISTENING CLOSELY TO THE NEEDS OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.

GRANTMAKING - COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION, EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT, POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND DISASTER RELIEF:THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION STRIVES TO MAKE CONNECTIONS AND PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE AND RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT CAUSES AND CAUSE-DRIVEN LEADERS FOR THE GREATER GOOD OF OUR COMMUNITY. WE INVEST IN OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS THROUGH CONFIDENCE IN THEIR EXPERTISE AND EXCELLENCE OF SERVICE. IN 2020, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION COMPLETED ITS STRATEGIC PLAN IMPLEMENTATION OF IDENTIFYING AND INVESTING IN FOCUS AREAS THE FOUNDATION WAS UNIQUELY QUALIFIED TO ADDRESS. INTEREST AREAS INCLUDE COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION, EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT, AND POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE WORKED HAND-IN-HAND WITH OUR NONPROFIT SECTOR TO PROVIDE FLEXIBILITY IN FUNDING SOURCES TO ENABLE THEM TO USE THEIR EXPERTISE AND AID THEIR CLIENTS, OUR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS, AND THEIR IDENTIFIED NEEDS. ADDITIONALLY, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SET UP TWO DISASTER RELIEF FUNDS IN 2020. THE BAHAMAS DISASTER RELIEF GRANTED OUT $1,010,841 TO SUPPORT RECOVERY EFFORTS IN RESPONSE TO HURRICANE DORIAN. THE COVID-19 RELIEF AND RESPONSE FUND WAS ESTABLISHED IN MARCH 2020, AND BY THE END OF JULY 2020, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HAS GIVEN 59 GRANTS TOTALING $1,507,806.50 TO ORGANIZATIONS IN PALM BEACH AND MARTIN COUNTIES. IN ADDITION TO SETTING UP THE COVID-19 FUND, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HOSTED A COMMON RELIEF APPLICATION AND FUNDING PROCESS THAT BROUGHT THE BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT, AND PHILANTHROPIC COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY NEEDS. AS OF JULY 27, 2020, THE FUNDERS COLLABORATIVE HAS GIVEN 315 GRANTS TOTALING $6,763,831.13 TO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:THIS YEAR OVER 700 STUDENTS COMPLETED AN APPLICATION FOR OUR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. WITH THE HELP OF LOCAL VOLUNTEERS, WE GRANTED $ 1,000,450 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 88 DESERVING STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY. THESE STUDENTS RECEIVED AWARDS FROM $1,000 TO $40,000 TO USE TOWARDS THEIR COLLEGE OF CHOICE. THE AVERAGE SCHOLARSHIP GRANT TO RECIPIENTS WAS $11,368.75, A 16.9% INCREASE FROM LAST FISCAL YEAR. RECIPIENTS ARE ATTENDING MAJOR FLORIDA UNIVERSITIES, MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MIT), DUKE UNIVERSITY, AND HARVARD COLLEGE. THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION IS ONE OF THE LARGEST PROVIDERS OF SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS IN PALM BEACH AND MARTIN COUNTIES. WE SUPPORT A WIDE RANGE OF STUDENTS BASED ON THE CRITERIA OF OVER 100 SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS. SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS ARE OFTEN ESTABLISHED TO HONOR OR MEMORIALIZE A LOVED ONE. EACH YEAR FUND HOLDERS ARE INFORMED OF THE RECIPIENTS AND RECEIVE THANK YOU LETTERS FROM THE STUDENTS, ALLOWING THE FUNDHOLDER TO BE PART OF THE STUDENTS' COLLEGE JOURNEY. SINCE 1983, OVER $15 MILLION IN SCHOLARSHIPS HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO OVER 2,400 STUDENTS.

OTHER SERVICES:DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS:THIS FISCAL YEAR, DONOR ADVISED FUNDS GAVE 860 GRANTS TOTALING $10,820,582.08 IN 40 DIFFERENT STATES. THE AVERAGE DAF GRANT WAS $12,582.07, A 4.6% INCREASE FROM THE LAST FISCAL YEAR. FIELD OF INTEREST:THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HAS THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO CARRY OUT DONORS' WISHES IN PERPETUITY THROUGH OUR FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS. WE ENSURE THE ORIGINAL INTENT OF THE DONOR'S DESIRES TO MAINTAIN ITS INTEGRITY, SUPPORTING NONPROFITS TO PROVIDE MAXIMUM IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY. IN 2020, OUR FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS AIDED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS TO RECEIVE THEIR CHILD DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE CREDENTIALS; CREATED THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS; PROTECTED AND EXPANDED LEARNING AROUND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES; PROVIDED A SAFE MEETING SPACE FOR YOUTH TRANSITIONING OUT OF FOSTER CARE; AIDED HOMELESS AND AT-RISK VETERAN WOMEN INTEGRATE BACK INTO SOCIETY AFTER SERVICE AND CONNECTED PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WITH JOB TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES.SPECIAL INITIATIVES:THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOUNDED AND WORKED ON FLORIDA COUNTS, A CENSUS 2020 INITIATIVE, INVESTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO SUPPORT A COMPLETE AND ACCURATE CENSUS COUNT. EACH YEAR ROUGHLY $800 BILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING IS EFFECTIVELY ALLOCATED BASED ON POPULATION DATA FROM THE CENSUS, INCLUDING CRITICAL INVESTMENTS IN THE ECONOMY SUCH AS INFRASTRUCTURE, TRANSPORTATION, THE ARTS, EDUCATION, ELDER CARE, AND CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION, INFORMATION FROM THE CENSUS IS USED TO ENSURE THE PROPER DISTRIBUTION OF POLITICAL REPRESENTATION. FLORIDA HAD THE THIRD-LARGEST NUMBER OF OMISSIONS IN THE 2010 CENSUS, OMITTING 1.4 MILLION PEOPLE.THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SUPPORTS PALM HEALTH FOUNDATION'S BEWELLPBC INITIATIVE, WHICH FOCUSES ON THE SYSTEM OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH. ITS ASPIRATIONAL GOAL IS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY CULTURE IN WHICH EVERY PERSON IN PALM BEACH COUNTY THRIVES BECAUSE THEY FEEL EMPOWERED, HOPEFUL, SUPPORTED, AND CONNECTED. AS THE NUMBER OF MENTAL HEALTH CASES IN OUR COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO IMPACT RESIDENTS OF ALL AGES, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RECOGNIZES HOW IMPERATIVE IT IS TO ASSIST IN BUILDING A ROBUST SYSTEM OF CARE. AS ONE OF THE INITIAL SUPPORTERS OF THE LOCAL COLLEGE ACCESS NETWORK, ACHIEVE PALM BEACH COUNTY, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SITS ON THE OPERATIONS TEAM, A GOVERNING BODY FOR THE GROUP. ADDITIONALLY, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HAS REPRESENTATION ON THE FINANCIAL SUPPORTS TEAM. THIS STRATEGY TEAM FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING WAYS TO INCREASE COMPLETION OF THE FAFSA FORM FOR FEDERAL AID, CREATING CONTENT TO HELP STUDENTS NAVIGATE FINANCIAL PLANNING FOR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION, AS WELL AS COMMUNICATING THE VARIOUS PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES UNIQUE TO THIS AREA. LOCAL GIVING CIRCLES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY PROVIDE LARGE GRANTS TO OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS. WE ARE PROUD TO PARTNER WITH IMPACT 100 PALM BEACH COUNTY, IMPACT THE PALM BEACHES, AND IMPACT 100 MEN OF BOCA RATON TO ASSIST WITH THEIR GRANTMAKING PROCESS.NONPROFIT ENDOWMENT: ONE OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION'S CORE COMPONENTS IS TO HELP NONPROFITS BUILD A SUSTAINABLE SOURCE OF INCOME THROUGH ENDOWMENT-BUILDING. WE HELP LOCAL NONPROFITS BUILD THEIR ENDOWMENTS SO THAT THEIR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES CAN CONTINUE FOR YEARS. WE ARE COMMITTED TO STRENGTHENING AND SERVING OUR NONPROFIT COMMUNITY. AS PART OF THAT COMMITMENT, WE MANAGE ASSETS AND RESERVES FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. WE CURRENTLY HAVE 60 NONPROFIT ENDOWMENTS, AND THE NUMBER INCREASES EACH YEAR.
