Our mission is to increase student academic success through remediation and enrichment services while building essential leadership and life skills for low-income and at-risk youth in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our summer camp program is like none other as it provides a perfect mixture of academics and recreation that children simply love! The aim of our program is to combat summer slide, a phenomenon capturing the decrease in student performance in reading and math during the summer months. PTLT feels it is vital students retain the knowledge and skills learned during the academic school year, particularly low-income students who lack access to summer learning resources and programs. Our camp offers students academic sessions built in to the day in order to maintain mental stimulation during the summer while having fun. Our program provides parents with the assurance of knowing their child is safe, having fun, and learning at the same time. In the program, we encourage our campers to explore new ideas and concepts, discover and/or revisit content, develop confidence and build long-lasting friendships. Our summer camp provides the following services in addition to academic enrichment and remediation: Leadership Development: Sessions that teach students the characteristics of effective leadership and the importance of employing leadership skills in their lives. Financial Literacy: Sessions and workshops created through partnerships with local banks that are led by experienced bankers. Workshop topics include: pros and cons of various bank accounts, understanding credit scores, budgeting, and the importance of savings. Enrichment: Games, swimming, arts & crafts, language, music, drama, weekly field trips (e.g. water parks, zoo, museums, bowling, movies, drama) and much more!
