THE PALM BEACH ZOO & CONSERVATION SOCIETY IS A FULLY ACCREDITED PUBLICZOO CARING FOR OVER 500 ANIMALS OF 190 SPECIES, MANY OF WHOM AREENDANGERED. THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE ZOO IS TO INSPIRE THE OVER360,000 GUESTS WHO COME TO THE ZOO ANNUALLY TO TAKE ACTION THAT WILLHAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THESE SAME SPECIES IN THE WILD. WE DO THISTHROUGH A SERIES OF DAILY ZOOLOGIST TALKS AND WILDLIFE SHOWS. INCLUDEDWITHIN THIS PRIMARY FUNCTION IS THE OPERATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THEZOO'S GROUNDS, EXHIBITS AND A STATE OF THE ART ANIMAL HOSPITAL WHICHPROVIDES BOTH PREVENTATIVE AND RESPONSIVE CARE FOR THE ANIMALS WHO MAKETHEIR HOME HERE.

THE PALM BEACH ZOO OFFERS A WIDE VARIETY OF EDUCATION PROGRAMS FORCHILDREN, FAMILIES, SCHOOLS AND OTHER GROUPS. THESE PROGRAMS AREOFFERED BOTH HERE ON ZOO GROUNDS AS WELL AS OUT IN THE COMMUNITYTHROUGH OUR OUTREACH PROGRAM. THE ZOO PARTICIPATES IN CONSERVATIONPROJECTS IN THE FIELD THAT ALIGN WITH OUR MISSION THROUGH THE PROVISIONOF MONETARY SUPPORT OF THEIR WORK - THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE SUPPORT OFWILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY'S MADIDI AND ENDAU ROMPIN PROJECTS,ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF LONDON'S EDGE FELLOW PROGRAM, AND THE FLORIDAWILDLIFE CORRIDOR. OUR STAFF WORKS DIRECTLY WITH THE PERDIDO KEYBEACH MOUSE RESTORATION PROGRAM THROUGH THE U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFESERVICE, THE SWALLOW TAIL KITE PROGRAM IN ASSOCIATION WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY'S DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, CORAL MONITORING OFF THE EAST COAST OF FLORIDA IN COOPERATION WITH THE FLORIDA WILDLIFE COMMISSION, AS WELL AS OTHER SMALLER PROGRAMS THAT ARE RELEVANT TO OURMISSION.
