FFC ENHANCES THE LIVES OF LOCAL CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE THROUGH SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE.
PROVIDING PERSONALIZED SUPPORT TO KIDS, AGES 0-23, IN FOSTER CARE WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO SUCCEED.
EDUCATE:PROVIDES PERSONALIZED EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO HELP STUDENTS IN FOSTER CARE EXPERIENCE ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN ORANGE, SEMINOLE AND OSCEOLA COUNTIES. IN 2019, 100% OF SENIORS GRADUATED, 91% OF STUDENTS INCREASED MOTIVATION, AND 100% WERE ENROLLED IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. MOST IMPORTANTLY, CHILDREN WERE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREAD CONCRETE GOALS AND DEVELOP VALUABLE LIFE SKILLS, SUCH AS SELF-AWARENESS, CRITICAL THINKING, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, EMPATHY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. 654 KIDS RECEIVED INTENSIVE TUTORING AND 24 WERE PART OF THE ADVOCACY PROGRAM.
ENRICHMENT:THIS PROGRAM RELIEVES THE FINANCIAL OBSTACLE FACING CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE SO THAT THEY CAN PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES THAT PROVIDE POSITIVE LIFE EXPERIENCES. BY FUNDING COMMUNIYT-BASED ATHLETICS, ARTS, MUSIC, FIELD TRIPS, SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, AND SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCES, YOUTHS LEARN INDEPENDENCE, BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE. FFC IS COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING AND PROVIDING SERVICES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT PROMOTE POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT. IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION FULFILLED 219 SUMMER CAMP REQUESTS AND PROVIDED ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO 208 CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. 134 CHILDREN WERE PROVIDED WITH CAKES AND GIFTS AND 335 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN FFC EVENTS.
TRANSITION TO ADULTHOOD:THE TRANSITION TO ADULTHOOD PROGRAM PROVIDES DIRECT ASSISTANCE AND MENTORS (LIFEGUIDES) TO HELP FOSTER YOUTH (AGES 17-23) NAVIGATE THROUGH THE CHALLENGING TRANSITION FROM STATE CARE TO SUCCESSFUL INDEPENDENT LIVING. ASSISTANCE INCLUDES HOUSING DEPOSITS/FEES, HOUSEHOLD STARTER KITS, DRIVERS LICENSES, COLLEGE TEXTBOOKS AND COMPUTERS. MATCHED BY SIMILAR INTERESTS, MENTOS AND FOSTER YOUTH WORK TOGETHER OVER A 12-WEEK PERIOD. WHETHER THEY'RE STARTING COLLEGE, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, A NEW JOB, OR LIVING ALONE IN A NEW APARTMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME, OUR PROGRAM PROVIDES A STABLE RELATIONSHIP LEADING TO A POSITIVE OUTCOME. 50 YOUNG ADULTS WERE SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM.
