Organizations Filed Purposes:
We are a grassroots organization working to protect Idaho's unique way of life by empowering citizens to improve the economic well-being of their communities, preserving family farms and ranches, supporting local, sustainable agriculture, developing small businesses and clean energy, and being responsible stewards of Idaho's water, land, air, and natural resources.
Training and Leadership - IORC provided support to our local chapters and their campaigns. IORC provided training and leadership development opportunities for members of the chapters. IORC's chapters worked on a variety of projects, including managing a farmers market, managing a local recycling center, educating local community members on the importance of having clean and abundant water, and educating community members on clean energy projects.
Agriculture & Food - IORC educated members, supporters, and community members on local food initiatives, food equity issues, and national food programs for family farmers. IORC held house parties, tabled at events, and worked with other organizations to educate on family farm and local food programs. IORC helped other organizations develop food purchasing policies, encouraging consumers to buy more local foods, and educated the public on food accessibility by supporting efforts to exempt groceries from the state's sales tax.
Oil & Gas - IORC educated members, supporters, community members, and elected officials on the efforts at the state level and national level to reduce the negative environmental impacts of oil and gas. At the local level, IORC worked in the cities of Fruitland and Eagle to educate the public on the importance of having strong local oil and gas ordinances. At the national level, IORC educated community members on the importance of having strong methane emission policies.
