Organizations Filed Purposes: TO STOP, PREVENT, AND HEAL THE EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, STALKING, AND DATING VIOLENCE IN LEMHI AND CUSTER COUNTIES.

THE MAHONEY HOUSE (TMH) SUPPORTED 74 SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN THE 2020FY PROVIDING PERSONAL, MEDICAL AND LEGAL ADVOCACY; EMERGENCY SHELTER AND RELOCATION SERVICES; SAFETY PLANNING, RESOURCE REFERRALS, SHORT-TERM COUNSELING, SUPERVISED VISITATION AND THIRD PARTY CHILD EXCHANGE. TMH SERVED 272 YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITY VIA THE SALMON EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES THAT EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE SALMON AREA. STAFF TOOK THE YOUNG PARTICIPANTS RAFTING, MOUNTAIN BIKING, BACKPACKING, HORSEBACK RIDING AND VARIOUS OTHER OUTDOOR ADVENTURES. FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR IN 2019 THROUGH MARCH OF 2020; TMH TAUGHT SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) CONCEPTS TO 89 GROUPS OF CHILDREN, REACHING A TOTAL OF 1277 CHILDREN. STAFF TYPICALLY SPENT EIGHT PLUS HOURS PER WEEK TEACHING K-8TH GRADE. ONCE THE DISTRICT ELECTED TO DISCONTINUE LETTING OUTSIDERS INTO THE SCHOOL IN PERSON, STAFF RECORDED AND SHARED 16 SEL VIDEOS ON THE ORGANIZATION FACEBOOK PAGE IN THE MONTHS OF APRIL AND MAY. THE VIDEOS ATTRACTED 2,612 VIEWERS. TMH SPONSORED SIX FUNDRAISERS INCLUDING SELLING KETTLE CORN TO THE COMMUNITY AT THREE DIFFERENT EVENTS. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED A FATHER- DAUGHTER WINTER DANCE ATTRACTING OVER 80 PARTICIPANTS, WHERE FOOD AND PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES WERE DONATED; AND PARTNERED WITH THE LOCAL SALMON ELKS LODGE TO HOST AN OKTOBERFEST CELEBRATION AND CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT. TMH HELD ONE OF ITS SEMI-ANNUAL SPUD FUNDRAISERS, WHERE 580 SPUDS WERE SERVED TO THE COMMUNITY FOR THE OCTOBER EVENT. UNFORTUNATELY, TMH HAD TO CANCEL THE APRIL SPUD FUNDRAISER DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. TMH PRESENTED THE STRENGTHENING SALMON'S FAMILIES WORKSHOP WHICH WAS HELD ONCE A MONTH FROM SEPTEMBER 2019 TO FEBRUARY 2020. CHILD CARE WAS PROVIDED BY KIDS CREEK EARLY EDUCATION CENTER, AND DINNER WAS SERVED AT EACH WORKSHOP. THE CLASS WAS STRUCTURED TO SHARE HOW TO PREVENT, RECOGNIZE AND RESPOND TO CHILD MALTREATMENT BASED ON THE HOPE CONQUERS ACES CURRICULUM. TWO SIX-SESSION PARENTING CLASSES WERE HELD, ONE IN THE SPRING AND THE OTHER IN THE FALL. BOTH WERE AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC: CLASSES WERE HELD VIA ZOOM AND THERE WERE NO COURT-MANDATED PARTICIPANTS. EVEN SO, THE CLASSES WERE A SUCCESS WITH THE TWO PARTICIPANTS IN ATTENDANCE. TWENTY SUPPORT GROUPS WERE OFFERED IN THE 2020FY, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SURVIVORS, SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS AND SALMON RIVER MOMS. BUILDING A REGULAR ATTENDANCE TO OUR GROUPS HAS BEEN OUR LARGEST CHALLENGE, AND AN AREA THAT WE ARE CONTINUALLY BRAINSTORMING ON HOW WE CAN IMPROVE. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, TMH WAS LIMITED IN THE NUMBER OF SUPPORT GROUPS OFFERED. STAFF PLANS TO OFFER SUPPORT GROUPS AGAIN ONCE THE TEMPERATURES WARM UP SO THEY CAN BE HELD OUTDOORS TO ALLOW FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING.
