Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO ELEVATE PUBLIC EDUCATION BY FUNDING INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AND CRITICAL NEEDS.
THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION OF TETON VALLEY'S MOST SIGNIFICANT PROGRAM IS CLASSROOM GRANTS BENEFITING TETON SCHOOL DISTRICT 401 TEACHERS AND STUDENTS. THE FOUNDATION IS ABLE TO AFFECT ALMOST EVERY SINGLE STUDENT FROM K-12 GRADES WITH THESE GRANTS. TEACHERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY THREE TIMES A YEAR TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL TO THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION. THESE PROPOSALS ADDRESS BASIC NEEDS IN THE CLASSROOM AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS TO TAKE LEARNING BEYOND THE TEXTBOOKS. THE GRANT PROCESS IS COMPETITIVE, AND PROPOSALS ARE SCORED BASED ON A RUBRIC SUPPLIED IN ADVANCE TO THE TEACHERS. THE AMOUNT AWARDED PER CYCLE IS BASED ON AVAILABLE FUNDS.
EDUCATION FOUNDATION OF TETON VALLEY'S SPANISH FOR KIDS PROGRAM SUPPORTS BASIC CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH FOR K-3 STUDENTS IN THREE SCHOOLS: VICTOR, DRIGGS, AND TETONIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THE TETON SCHOOL DISTRICT 401 PROVIDES A DUAL IMMERSION PROGRAM FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF STUDENTS AT DRIGGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. SPANISH FOR KIDS PROVIDES ALL THE OTHER CHILDREN TWO SPANISH CLASSES PER MONTH TO ACQUAINT THEM WITH BASIC SPANISH AND HELP INTEGRATE HISPANIC AND NON-HISPANIC STUDENTS. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ECONOMIC BARRIERS BETWEEN CHILDREN ARE BROKEN DOWN.
THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION OF TETON VALLEY'S CRITICAL NEEDS FUND IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT. AS A MOUNTAIN RESORT TOWN, WE HAVE A LARGE POPULATION OF SERVICE INDUSTRY WORKERS WHO MAKE MINIMUM WAGE, BUT LIVE IN AN AREA WITH A HIGH COST OF LIVING. THESE STUDENTS NEED EYEGLASSES, HEARING AIDS, WINTER CLOTHES, AND BACKPACKS. OUR FOUNDATION HAS A CRITICAL NEEDS FUND FROM WHICH ALL TETON SCHOOL DISTRICT 401 STAFF MEMBERS CAN REQUEST FUNDING TO HELP THEIR STUDENTS. IN 2020, WE PURCHASED FIVE PAIRS OF EYEGLASSES AND FULFILLED REQUESTS FOR WINTER COATS AND SNOW BOOTS FOR STUDENTS IN NEED.
