Organizations Filed Purposes:
To make the good life in Teton Valley even better for residents and visitors alike through recreational and cultural programs that create community connections and enhance the local economy.
Music on Main: Music on Main is the Teton region's first free summer concert series. It began in 2006 with just three shows, but has grown to eight free concerts each summer with over 3,000 people a week in Victor, Idaho, a town with a population of only 2,000 people and one stoplight! The event is made possible by 20 dedicated sponsors who subsidize the concert and more than 30 volunteers each week. This financial and in-kind support insures the Foundation does not have to charge a formal admission, although concert-goers do generously donate at the door to support our efforts. The concerts are known for providing incredible music and a quinessential community vibe. Music on Main is known for bringing top talent of diverse genres to Teton Valley. But more than the music, participants would say that Music on Main is special because it has become both a gathering place for community members to connect, and a cornerstone summer event that entices visitors to discover the best of who we are and what we have to offer in Teton Valley.
Kotler Ice Arena: Passionate valley residents dreamed of building the Kotler Ice Arena as an accessible place for the community to skate and recreate during our long, cold winters. A place where kids families, and adults could enjoy winter, engage in physical activity, and gather with neighbors and friends in a protected environment. Teton Valley Foundation raised $500,000 in its first decade to create a covered, full length, open-air ice rink in Victor, Idaho that boasted a warming hut, a Zamboni, two locker rooms, and a view of the Tetons while you skate! In 2015 and 2016 the foundation raised an additional $500,000 thanks to a colossal community effort with over 250 donors and over 5,000 volunteer hours in order to install a cooling system. This will result in expanding our historical ice season from 2 months to 5+ months a year. The ice rink serves over 1,400 users a week, or more than 10% of Teton Valley's population, and offers the following programs: Youth Hockey, a Coed Hockey League, Learn to Skate, Women's Hockey, Community Public Skating, Learn to Play, and subsidized skating programs for over 500 area kids through a partnership with local schools. 30% of school participants come from low-income or under- served populations. There are countless examples or how affordable winter recreation options at the ice rink impact the community. Just to name a few - teenagers have a safe space to hang out on a Friday night; our Youth Hockey participants learn new skills and teamwork; families from our growing Latino community experience ice for the first time during community skating sessions; and neighbors and friends build camaraderie through friendly competition.
