Organizations Filed Purposes: BUTTON HOLE GOLF COURSE & TEACHING CENTER ENRICHES THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE BY PROVIDING FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS THAT DEVELOP STRONG CHARACTER, TEACH LIFE VALUES AND CHAMPION SUCCESS THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF.

REGARDLESS OF RACE AND ECONOMIC BACKGROUND, BUTTON HOLE STRIVES TO BREAK THE FINANCIAL AND SOCIAL BARRIERS TO THE GAME OF GOLF.IN 2019 BUTTON HOLE REACHED OUT TO TEN SCHOOLS AND 1,436 KIDS THROUGH THE LOCAL PROVIDENCE ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOLS AS A PART OF THEIR PHYSICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND TAUGHT THEM A FOUR-HOUR COURSE TO INTRODUCE THEM TO GOLF. BUTTON HOLE "SCHOLARSHIPS" ALL COSTS FOR THE IN-SCHOOL INTRODUCTION TO GOLF PROGRAM. ON AVERAGE 70% OF THESE CHILDREN LIVE IN FAMILIES THAT ARE AT OR BELOW POVERTY LEVEL. (INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND ON THE PROVIDENCE PUBLIC SCHOOL DEPARTMENT WEBSITE.) THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO INTRODUCE THESE INNER-CITY CHILDREN TO THE GAME AND BRING THEM OUT TO THE GOLF COURSE THROUGH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS TO EVENTUALLY GROW THEM AS JUNIOR GOLFERS AND ATHLETES. ADDITIONALLY, AND EQUALLY IMPORTANT ARE THE LIFE LESSONS AND VALUES LEARNED THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF. SOCIAL SKILLS, PERSEVERANCE, AND INTEGRITY ARE A FEW OF THE LESSONS LEARNED THROUGH THE GAME. BUTTON HOLE OFFERS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS TO MANY DIFFERENT AGENCIES AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS AT DISCOUNTED OR FULL SCHOLARSHIP. IN 2019 THEY OFFERED 18 AGENCIES PROGRAMMING FOR FREE OR AT PARTIAL COST, INCLUDING SPECIAL OLYMPICS, SAN MIGUEL, PAWTUCKET ADAPTIVE, PROVIDENCE ADAPTIVE, WARWICK EXTENDED DAY, PROVIDENCE RECREATION DEPARTMENT AND MORE. THESE PROGRAMS INVOLVED OVER 700 ADDITIONAL CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. IN ADDITION, THEY ALSO OFFERED OVER 120 KIDS FULL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THEIR REGULAR BUTTON HOLE PROGRAMMING WHICH TOTALED $12,000. BUTTON HOLE ALSO OFFERS SPECIAL EVENTS TO KIDS AT NO CHARGE. CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CVS CHARITY CLASSIC AS STANDARD BEARERS AND COMPETE IN SPECIAL TOURNAMENTS ALL SUMMER LONG.BUTTON HOLE CONTINUED FOCUSING ON ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION. WE ARE NOW ABLE TO PROVIDE GOLF INSTRUCTION TO PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED YOUTH AND ADULTS ON OUR FULLY HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE GOLF COURSE AND DRIVING RANGE. ADDITIONALLY BUTTON HOLE CONDUCTS BI-MONTHLY GOLF CLINICS FOR VETERANS AT NO CHARGE. PARTICIPATION IS TYPICALLY 25-35 VETERANS PER CLINIC THROUGHOUT THE GOLF SEASON. PROGRAMS SUCH AS THESE HAVE PROVEN TO BE VERY EFFECTIVE IN HELPING VETERANS DEAL WITH THE EMOTIONAL STRESS OF THEIR SERVICE YEARS. ACCESS TO TWO PARAMOBILE SPECIAL ADAPTIVE GOLF CARTS ALLOW GOLFERS (BOTH YOUTH AND ADULTS) THE ABILITY TO EXPERIENCE THE GAME.
