DownCity Design helps people design improvements to strengthen their communities.
DownCity Design provided free in-school, after school, and summer design education programs for over 340 youth in 2019/2020. DCD provided continuity throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, offering virtual programming to keep our students connected to one another, to caring adults, and to meaningful service work. Students designed 5 new amenities for community clients including Providence Public Schools, Urban Greens Market, Providence Children's Museum, Groundwork RI and West Elmwood Housing. Our programs help to develop students' critical thinking, creative problem solving, and STEAM skills, crucial skills for success in school and in life beyond.
