Organizations Filed Purposes: THE LEAGUE'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE FOR THE RESCUE AND RELIEF OF SUFFERING OF HOMELESS ANIMALS AND PERFORM CHARITABLE OR BENEVOLENT ACTS FOR THE WELFARE OF ANIMALS. TO PROVIDE FOR THE RESCUE AND RELIEF OF SUFFERING OF HOMELESS ANIMALS AND PERFORM CHARITABLE OR BENEVOLENT ACTS FOR THE WELFARE OF ANIMALS

PROVIDENCE ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE (PARL) TOOK IN 1,023 ANIMALS IN 2019 (251 DOGS, 639 CATS, AND 133 SMALL ANIMALS). OF THESE, 863 WERE ADOPTED, 34 WERE RETURNED TO THEIR OWNER, AND 16 WERE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER AGENCIES. PARL DOES NOT EUTHANIZE ANIMALS DUE TO AGE, SPACE, OR LENGTH OF STAY AND PROUDLY MAINTAINS A 96.2% SAVE RATE AS CALCULATED USING NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED METRICS FROM BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SOCIETY. PROVIDING INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION AND CARE FOR THE ANIMALS IS A TOP PRIORITY AND INCLUDES EFFORTS TO ENSURE THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING OF ALL SHELTERED PETS IN ITS CARE.IN ADDITION TO ADOPTION PROGRAMMING, PARL ACTIVELY WORKED TO PREVENT PET OVERPOPULATION IN THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDED ESSENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES FOR PETS IN THE METRO AREA AND BEYOND. IN 2019, PARL PERFORMED A TOTAL OF 1,660 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES FOR DOGS, CATS, AND RABBITS. THIS TOTAL INCLUDES 560 SURGERIES ON SHELTER ANIMALS PRIOR TO ADOPTION AND 1100 SURGERIES ON OWNED ANIMALS THROUGH THE AFFORDABLE COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION HELD NINE LOW-COST VACCINE/MICROCHIPPING CLINICS IN 2019, ASSISTING 242 DOGS AND CATS THROUGH THE ADMINISTRATION OF 384 VACCINES AND 90 MICROCHIPS. PARL'S PET FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM PROVIDED 17,049 MEALS, 159 BAGS OF LITTER, AND 432 BAGS OF TREATS TO COMMUNITY PET OWNERS FACING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. THESE PUBLIC SERVICES NOT ONLY HELPED COMPANION ANIMALS BUT ALSO SUPPORTED THE HUMAN-ANIMAL BOND AND ENCOURAGED PET VACCINATION HABITS TO SUPPORT PUBLIC HEALTH.
