OUR 2020 KEY PARTNERSHIPS WERE WITH: UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AT DARTMOUTH, THE NEW ENGLANDNEWS COLLABORATIVE, THE PROVIDENCE ATHENAEUM, PROVIDENCE PUBLIC LIBRARY, THE RHODE ISLAND HISTORICALSOCIETY, THE RHODE ISLAND HUMANITIES COUNCIL, PROPUBLICA AND BROWN UNIVERSITY'S CENTER FORENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY. WITH THE LAST WE ARE CO-PRODUCING A PODCAST SERIES CALLED "POSSIBLY" ABOUTENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY. WITH PROVIDENCE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE RHODE ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY WE PARTNERED IN AUGUST 2020 TO PRODUCE A SHARED ARCHIVE CHRONICLING THE SARS-COV-2 PANDEMIC AND ITS LOCAL IMPACT.IN JUNE 2020, WE COMPLETED OUR ESTABLISHMENT OF OUR THREE COMMUNITY BUREAUS IN OUR SERVICE AREA WITHTHE HIRE OF NEWPORT BUREAU REPORTER, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH REPORT FOR AMERICA. OUR FOCUS WITH OURPARTNER IS ON RACE AND POVERTY IN NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND. THE NEWPORT SATELLITE BUREAU ITSELF IS HOUSEDAT THE NEWPORT OPERA HOUSE THEATER AND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. OUR SOUTH COUNTRY BUREAU BECAMEFUNCTIONAL WITH REPORTER ALEX NUNES BEGINNING WORK IN THE REGION IN JANUARY, EVEN THOUGH OUR BUREAUOFFICES AT THE UNITED THEATRE IN WESTERLY ARE SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN SPRING OF 2021.ONGOING COVERAGE:THE NATIONAL AND LOCAL CRISIS CAUSED BY THE PANDEMIC HAS BEEN AN UNFOLDING STORY HEAVILY REPORTED BYOUR JOURNALISTS AT THE PUBLIC'S RADIO THIS YEAR. IN MARCH 2020 WE BEGAN EXTENDED NEWS AND LONG-FORMCOVERAGE OF THE PANDEMIC, TRANSITIONING TO WORK FROM HOME OR FIELD PRODUCTION. BEGINNING IN APRIL 2020WE ALSO FOCUSED OUR COVERAGE OF THE ECONOMIC DEVASTATION CAUSED BY THE PANDEMIC. THEN IN JUNE ANDJULY 2020 , WE FOCUSED ATTENTION ON THE EMERGING ISSUES OF RACIAL EQUITY AND POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY. TOCOVER LOCAL AND REGIONAL DEMONSTRATIONS AND PROTESTS IN DEMAND OF RACIAL EQUITY AND POLICEACCOUNTABILITY.IN OCTOBER 2020 OUR "ONE SQUARE MILE" HYPERLOCAL FOCUS WAS ON THE ELECTION AS IT PLAYS OUT IN APOLITICALLY MIXED SUBURB OF CRANSTON: THE COVERAGE WAS COMMUNITY-DRIVEN, FOCUSING ON VOTER STORIES IN A YEAR OF DEEP POLITICAL DIVIDE.CLOSING THE CALENDAR YEAR AMID NEW PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS FOR THE PUBLIC WE USED OUR DIGITAL PLATFORM TO CREATE A VIRTUAL GALLERY AROUND OUR ARTS FEATURE, ARTSCAPE. IT IS A SPECIAL DIGITAL EXHIBITION DISPLAYING ARTWORK FROM LOCAL AND REGIONAL ARTISTS THAT SHEDS LIGHT ON THE EVENTS OF THE YEAR.AND AS LOCAL HOLIDAY THEATER PERFORMANCES WERE CANCELLED WE PARTNERED WITH GAMM THEATER TO PRODUCEAN ONLINE AND BROADCAST HOLIDAY PRODUCTION OF IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, AIRING DEC 24, 25, 31, JAN 1.
