THE CENTER COORDINATES WITH OVER 40 AGENCIES IN BRINGING SERVICES TO RHODE ISLAND'S SENIORS. THE CENTER IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT RESOURCE TO GUIDE OLDER ADULTS THROUGH THE MANY SOCIAL SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THEM. TRAINING IS PROVIDED TO LAY LEADERS, COLLEGE FIELD PLACEMENT STUDENTS AND FAMILY CAREGIVERS.
BRINGING SERVICES TO RHODE ISLAND'S SENIORS
ELDER SERVICES - THE ELDER SERVICES PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND SERVICES THAT RESTORE DIGNITY AND INDEPENDENCE TO ELDERS, AND TO EASE THE BURDEN OF CARE ON FAMILIES. THE PROGRAMS ALSO CAN ASSIST ELDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH EVERYTHING FROM NAVIGATING THE SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO PROVIDING HANDS-ON ASSISTANCE. SPECIAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED FOR HISPANIC ELDERS WITH LITTLE OR NO ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN ENGLISH. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, 4,378 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED ASSISTANCE.
