Organizations Filed Purposes:
OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE, DEVELOP, AND GALVANIZE THE COLORADO PUBLIC HEALTH COMMUNITY. WE ARE THE LARGEST AND OLDEST PUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATION IN THE STATE. CPHAS ACTIVITIES ARE CARRIED OUT BY ITS BOARD AND MEMBERS ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF COLORADO
CPHA IS WORKING TO TRANSFORM THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF COLORADANS, PROVIDING THE PUBLIC HEALTH COMMUNITY-BOTH INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS-A HOME, A FORUM, NETWORKS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE AND COLLABORATE IN OUR CORE AREAS OF WORK. IN 2020 THE BOARD VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO TAKE ACTIVE STEPS TO BECOME AN ANTI-RACIST ORGANIZATION. WE BEGAN TO ASSESS THE ORGANIZATIONAL WORK THAT IS NEEDED AS A PART OF THIS PROCESS, AND ISSUED AN RFI TO SELECT A CONSULTANT TO PARTNER WITH US IN DEVELOPING A STRATEGY TO DEFINE AND IMPLEMENT OUR WORK. WE ALSO CONTINUED TO WORK ALONG OUR 2019 STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS WHICH WILL GUIDE OUR ORGANIZATION IN 1) ALIGNING CPHA CAPACITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE; 2) STRENGTHENING PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE; AND 3) BUILDING A PUBLIC HEALTH MOVEMENT. OUR COMMITTMENT TO HEALTH EQUITY IS INFUSED WITHIN EACH AREA OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN. OTHER KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS FROM 2020 INCLUDE: CHPA HAS BEEN AWARDED FUNDING FROM APHA AND THE NIHS ALL OF US RESEARCH PROGRAM TO ADVANCE CPHAS RACISM/RACIAL EQUITY WORK. WE HAVE PIVOTED TO THE FIRST EVER VIRTUAL PUBLIC HEALTH IN THE ROCKIES AND ARE PARTNERING WITH ROCKY MOUNTAIN PUBLIC HEALTH TRAINING CENTER TO DELIVER A HIGH QUALITY, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT LEARNING SERIES. WE STARTED THE CPHAS PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING SECTION. OUR HEALTH EQUITY COALITION AND EMERGING LEADERS COMMITTEE ARE ROBUST AND GROWING. BOTH HAVE INVESTED SIGNIFICANTLY THIS YEAR IN REFINING STRUCTURE, PURPOSE, AND GOALS. AS OF JANUARY 1, 2020, WE HAVE A NEW ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMPANY, THE SOLUTION, TO SUPPORT OUR ADMINISTRATIVE ESSENTIALS AND PARTNER WITH US TO PROACTIVELY AND STRATEGICALLY GROW AND REFINE OUR WORK TO MEET COLORADOS PUBLIC HEALTH NEEDS INTO THE FUTURE. PULSE CHECKS: IN AN EFFORT TO CREATE CONNECTEDNESS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS IN THE TIME OF COVID-19, WE HAVE HOSTED A SERIES OF FORUMS ON TOPICS INCLUDING: MENTAL HEALTH, RURAL PUBLIC HEALTH, PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING, POLICE VIOLENCE AS A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE, RACISM AS A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISISWE LED ONGOING EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS RELATED TO COLORADO AND NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH LEGISLATIONMAINTAINED 613 ACTIVE MEMBERS
