Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF JAZZ ASPEN SNOWMASS IS TO PRESENT AND PRESERVE JAZZ AND RELATED FORMS OF MUSIC THROUGH WORLD-CLASS FESTIVALS, PERFORMANCES AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

LOCAL MUSIC EDUCATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING FOR 2019: OVER 2,000 MUSIC FACULTY HOURS FUNDED AT LOCAL AREA SCHOOLS; APPROXIMATELY 1,700 STUDENTS SERVED THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES. THE ORGANIZATION HAS FUNDED APPROXIMATELY 120 HOURS OF PRIVATE LESSONS. TOTAL LOCAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS FUNDED BY THE ORGANIZATION WERE APPROXIMATELY $220,000. THE AVERAGE LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOL MUSIC BUDGET AVERAGED $2,000. OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE STUFF FOR STUDENTS (AN EQUIPMENT PURCHASE PROGRAM); AS WELL AS SUMMER CAMPS AND DISTRICT 8 HONOR JAZZ COMPETITIONS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. JAZZ ASPEN ALSO PARTNERS WITH BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC TO ADVANCE LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS MUSIC EDUCATION TO THE COLLEGE. BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC IS ONE OF THE PREMIER MUSIC COLLEGES IN THE UNITED STATES.

JAS ACADEMY BRINGS YOUNG MUSICIANS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, AT VARIOUS POINTS IN THEIR EARLY MUSIC CAREERS TO ASPEN, COLORADO TO PROVIDE A REAL LIFE MUSICIAN EDUCATION FROM VARIOUS CURRENT DAY PERFORMERS SUCH AS MULTI GRAMMY AWARD WINNING, AND JAS ACADEMY ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE. 23 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED THE TWO WEEK ACADEMY IN 2019. A PARTNERSHIP HAS BEEN CREATED WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI'S FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC TO PROVIDE THIS PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN UNDERWRITTEN BY ED BASS.

SMALL VENUE, JAS CAF, AND FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES, JUNE & LABOR DAY, THROUGH OUT THE 2019 YEAR EXPOSED ATTENDEES TO VARIOUS FORMS OF MUSIC. APPROXIMATELY 40,000 ATTENDEES ACROSS ALL PERFORMANCES. THE JAS CAF SERIES INCLUDED LISTEN UP TALKS. THIS IS AN INTIMATE, SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION WITH A PERFORMER WHERE THE ATTENDEE GETS TO KNOW THE PERFORMER PERSONALLY, AND THEIR PROFESSIONAL MUSIC EXPERIENCES THROUGH A QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION. THESE LISTEN UP TALKS BROADEN THE ATTENDEES EXPERIENCE OF, AND APPRECIATION FOR, THE MUSIC THEY HERE LATER IN THE EVENING BY THE ARTIST, PERFORMER.
