Organizations Filed Purposes: Aurora Sister Cities Internationals mission is to promote local and global relationships centered on international trade, and cultrual and educational exchange.

Adult Delegations: Aurora Sister Cities International partners closely with the City of Aurora to host and lead business and trade delegations between our sister cities with the goal of fostering deeper municipal and business relations. In 2019, ASCI led an official delegation to Japan, hosting visits between Japanese city officials and business leaders and Aurora city officials and members of our business and education community. ASCI also led a mission to our sister city in Korea focused on SMART Cities Best Practices Exchange.

Global Youth Leaders: In 2019, the organization again ran the Global Youth Leaders program which begins annually with an entirely free 1-week-long day camp for Aurora youth aged 13-15, and which is designed to develop a set of global competencies to better prepare them for a future in the global marketplace. As part of the program, the organization also hosted a number of extra-curricular workshops for local youth that focused on community service, team-building and college-and-career-readiness. Additionally, the organization sent 10 local youth (Global Youth Leaders) to Korea for a Global Student Leadership Conference hosted by our sister city of Seongnam City, Korea. The organization also sent 3 local youth to attend a Japanese Cultural Immersion program in Hiroshima, Japan.

Special Projects & Events: City Committees led special projects in collaboration with our sister cities which foster educational, cultural and artistic exchange, or promote humanitarian aid benefiting our sister cities. The organizational administration and volunteer committees also host local events and programs focused on showcasing the cultures and traditions of our sister cities. In 2019, ASCI hosted our annual winter celebration featuring food and beverage from around our sister cities. ASCI also participated in the city of Auroras Global Fest featuring culture booths showcasing our sister cities. Other past special events have also included an artist exchange where ASCI hosted visiting artists from Auroras friendship city in El Salvador; a special exhibit in collaboration with the Aurora History Museum showcasing the cultures and contributions of local immigrants from Ethiopia and El Salvador; and Korean and Japanese Protocol trainings and dinners.
