Clinical ResearchThe purpose of CPC's clinical research program is to unite academic leadership with operational expertise to optimize the quality of clinical research and improve health. CPC is an affiliate of the University of Colorado Health Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Health & Hospital Authority and provides expertise in trial management and educational training for clinical research including medical affairs, biostatistical analysis, data and project management and regulatory affairs. Additionally, CPC provides: - Leadership in the design and oversight of clinical trials by integrating sound clinical science and Steering Committee Leadership, leading to peer-reviewed publications. - Development of a unique educational and quality intervention program (EQuIP) that uniquely utilizes appropriate controls and methodologies to ensure the highest data quality. - Participation in the Development, writing and approval of clinical trial protocols, management of safety and steering committees, evaluation/reporting of serious adverse events, and writing/reviewing/approving manuscripts, abstracts, etc. - Development of training courses targeted for doctors and clinical research staff in reviewing their responsibilities and conduct in clinical trials.
CPC Community Health The purpose of CPC's community health program is to improve the health of all Coloradans by creating innovative community health programs that deliver evidence-based interventions. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the state of Colorado. Despite the availability of national guidelines, few patients are appropriately treated for the risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes that lead to this epidemic. Thus, CPC Community Health goals are: - Create accessible, scientifically sound strategies for physicians and patients to improve cardiovascular health. - Strengthen communities through outreach programs to prevent cardiovascular disease in the medically underserved. - Establish community and statewide partnerships that support clinical guideline adherence and cardiovascular prevention programs. - Strong focus on vulnerable populations including rural residents, minorities, and the uninsured. - Change health behaviors to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and death. - Help health care providers apply research findings by improving how physicians apply guidelines in their practice.
