To serve as a forum for education, promotion of research, and provision of public services in the field of dance medicine.
IADMS conducted its 29th annual conference on October 24th through October 27th 2019 in Montreal, Canada. The purpose of this and all the programming is to help delegates gain insights into the causes and treatments of musculoskeletal and psychological issues in dancers. IADMS is a uniquely multi-disciplinary event.The target audience of IADMS are those involved with the health care, education, administration and supervision of dancers, including physicians, physical therapists, allied health professionals, alternative health care practitioners, psychologists, arts administrators, artistic directors, choreographers, educators, scientists, movement specialists, and dancers.Continuing Medical Education Objectives: This meeting increased competence and improved clinician practice in the care of dancers.
IADMS published 4 editions of its premiere research journal, Journal of DanceMedicine & Science, which features:1) Original scientific articles,2) Review articles,3) Case studies,4) Abstracts from current literature, editorials, consensus statements, book reviews, news & notes, letters to the editor and a special topic-oriented issue.The Journal is available on-line and by hard copy. It continues to be part of the Index Medicus database searchable using PubMed.IADMS also publishes: a Quarterly Newsletter, the IADMS Bulletin for Teachers, Dance Medicine & Science Bibliography, Annual Meeting Abstracts and Proceedings, Dance Medicine and Science Posters, and maintains an open website.
