Get Schools Cooking 2018 (previously known as School Food Support Initiative): Chef Ann Foundation and Whole Kids Foundation joined forces to provide technical assistance grants to four school districts in 2018. Get Schools Cooking supports the selected school districts to provide individualized, technical support to assist them in sustainably moving from a highly processed to cook from scratch operation. Program goals include: assessing barriers and identifying recommended actions in five key areas of school food service: Food, Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, and Marketing; supporting districts in developing action plans that create the structured framework to achieve their strategic objectives; and providing system improvement grants that support the implementation of recommended actions and next steps.
The Colorado Health Foundation Professional Development grant was initiated in 2018. Key deliverables include a new School Food Institute (SFI) course, Spanish translations of all SFI courses, new content on The Lunch Box, and website redevelopment for both The Lunch Box (thelunchbox.org) and the Chef Ann Foundation organization site (chefannfoundation.org).
