Organizations Filed Purposes: TO INSPIRE AND CONNECT COMMUNITY MEMBERS OF ALL AGES BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO THE BEST OF THE WORLD'S MUSIC THROUGH EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE.

DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, THE COLORADO MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FORCED TO SHIFT ALL PLANNED IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING TO VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING. MANY TICKET SUBSCRIBERS DONATED BACK THEIR TICKET FEES WITH GREAT GENEROSITY TO SUPPORT THE MUSICIAN FUND. THIS FUND, IN CONJUNCTION WITH PPP FUNDING ALLOWED THE ORGANIZATION TO SUPPLY SOME COMPENSATION TO FESTIVAL MUSICIANS WHO HAD ALL SUFFERED LOSS OF INCOME. THE VIRTUAL FESTIVAL WAS OFFERED AS A SERIES OF SIX PRODUCED CONCERT AND INTERVIEW EVENTS AVAILABLE FOR FREE ONLINE THROUGH A REGISTRATION PROCESS. CONCERTS WERE HOSTED BY MUSIC DIRECTOR PETER OUNDJIAN AND FEATURED IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS WITH CMF MUSICIANS, GUEST ARTISTS AS WELL AS RECORDED PERFORMANCES. ORCHESTRA MEMBERS CAME TOGETHER IN THE SEASON FINALE TO PERFORM (COMPILED INDIVIDUAL RECORDINGS) MOVEMENTS FROM BEETHOVEN'S 7TH SYMPHONY AS A NOD TO THE COMPOSER'S 250TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. ATTENDEES INCLUDED 6,028 REGISTRANTS WITH VIEWERS HAILING FROM ACROSS THE WORLD, INCLUDING 46 STATES AND 33 COUNTRIES. 30% OF VIEWS WERE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S. WHICH ALLOWED US TO STAY ON TRACK WITH OUR STRATEGIC PLAN TO BECOME MORE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AS A "DESTINATION" FESTIVAL. ASIDE FROM COVID-19 CHALLENGES, WE FACED LOCAL AND NATIONAL UPHEAVAL WITH THE MURDER OF GEORGE FLOYD AND SUBSEQUENT PROTESTS AND MOMENTUM TOWARDS EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND DIVERSITY. THE FESTIVAL PRODUCED A MEMORIAL VIDEO WITH OUR DIVERSE FESTIVAL FELLOWS (IVALAS QUARTET), FEATURING MUSIC OF A BLACK COMPOSER AND IMAGES OF INDIVIDUALS WHO DIED BECAUSE OF POLICE BRUTALITY. THE VIDEO RECEIVED OVER 5,000 VIEWS AND HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN PICKED UP BY REGIONAL ORCHESTRAS TO USE FOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.

THE CENTER FOR MUSICAL ARTS TRANSITIONED TO ALL ONLINE PROGRAMMING WITHIN A WEEK OF SHUTDOWN. THE ONLY PROGRAMS ABLE TO CONTINUE IN THIS ONLINE FORMAT WERE PRIVATE LESSONS AND LECTURE-STYLE CLASSES, WHILE ENSEMBLES AND GROUP PERFORMANCE CLASSES WERE SHUT DOWN. AMAZINGLY, EVEN WITH THE SHUT DOWN AND LOSS OF GROUP OPPORTUNITIES, THE CENTER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN 75% OF ITS STUDENT POPULATION, EVEN ADDING NEW OUT OF STATE STUDENTS WITH THE ADDITION OF ONLINE LESSON OPTIONS. WITH THE DECLINING ECONOMY, MORE TUITION ASSISTANCE WAS REQUESTED TO FULFILL THIS, AND WE WERE ABLE TO MEET THE NEED THROUGH FUNDRAISING EFFORTS.FACULTY AND STAFF DEVELOPED FREE PROGRAMMING: FACULTY-LED ONLINE CONCERTS FOR "LITTLE ONES", MUSIC TOGETHER CLASSES, SING-A-LONGS FOR ALL AGES, AS WELL AS A RESURGENCE OF OUR INVISIBLE AUDIENCE CONCERT SERIES FEATURING REGIONAL ACTS. THIS WAS ALL TO CREATE A SENSE OF NORMALCY AND BRING THE BENEFITS OF MUSIC INTO PEOPLE'S HOMES DURING SUCH UNPRECEDENTED AND STRESSFUL TIMES. IN THE FALL OF 2020 AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, WE WERE ABLE TO OPEN THE CENTER UP TO A FEW IN-PERSON LESSONS. WE CLOSELY FOLLOWED BUILDING PROTOCOLS SET BY THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. THIS LIGHT RE-OPENING WAS BRIEF DUE TO A SURGE IN COVID-19 CASES AND THE YEAR ENDED FULLY ONLINE AGAIN WITH A WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION OF BEETHOVEN FEATURING CMA STUDENTS IN A SPECIAL COLLABORATIVE RECORDING OF "ODE TO JOY AND A SERIES OF PERFORMANCES AND INTERVIEWS FEATURING THE RENOWNED TAKACS QUARTET AND OTHERS.
