PENNOCK CENTER FOR COUNSELING MAKES MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ACCESSIBLE BY FILLING A GAP IN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE UNINSURED, UNDERINSURED AND WORKING POOR BY PROVIDING AFFORDABLE INDIVIDUAL, COUPLE, FAMILY AND GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED. NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY BASED ON INABILITY TO PAY. FEES FOR SERVICES ARE BASED ON A SLIDING FEE SCALE ACCORDING TO INCOME AND ARE WAIVED OR REDUCED DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. PENNOCK CENTER FOR COUNSELING PROVIDES ACCESS TO QUALITY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE UNDERSERVED DUE TO SOCIO-ECONOMIC OR GEOGRAPHIC CIRCUMSTANCES, AND WORKS IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITY A HEALTHIER PLACE.
IN 2018, THE CENTER PROVIDED SERVICES TO 947 INDIVIDUALS. OF THESE INDIVIDUALS, 310 RECEIVED INDIRECT OR REFERRAL SERVICES AND 637 RECEIVED DIRECT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. CLIENTS SOUGHT SERVICES MOST FREQUENTLY FOR DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, FAMILY PROBLEMS, RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS, STRESS AND GRIEF. A TOTAL OF 2518 COUNSELING SESSIONS WERE CONDUCTED. OVER 67 COMMUNITY MEMBERS ATTENDED CLASSES AND GROUPS OFFERED BY THE CENTER OR PARTICIPATED IN THE SENIOR PEER COUNSELING PROGRAM.
IN 2018, FEES WERE WAIVED OR REDUCED FOR 37% OF OUR CLIENTS DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR NEED. THE CENTER COMMUNITY GROUPS AND CLASSES INCLUDING; GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS, WELLNESS CLASSES, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP CLASSES, AND MINDFULNESS CLASSES. REFERRAL SOURCES WERE VARIED AND INCLUDED; PLATTE VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER, SALUD FAMILY HEALTH CENTER, COMMUNITY PHYSICIANS, SCHOOLS, ADAMS COUNTY VICTIM COMPENSATION, WELD COUNTY VICTIM COMPENSATION, ADAMS COUNTY PROBATION, PAST CLIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND THE INTERNET. THE CENTER CONTINUED TO PROVIDE THE ALTERNATIVE TO SUSPENSION PROGRAMMING FOR THE BRIGHTON 27J SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH 45 STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS PARTICIPATING IN THESE PROGRAMS. THE CENTER HAS ON-GOING COLLABORATIONS WITH MANY OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE GREATER BRIGHTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS A PART OF THE NONPROFIT COUNCIL, THE BRIGHTON YOUTH COMMISSION AND WITH THE BRIGHTON AGENCY COALITION SPONSORED BY PLATTE VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER.
