THE MISSION OF THE COLORADO TREE COALITION (CTC) IS LEADING STATEWIDE EFFORTS TO PRESERVE, RENEW AND ENHANCE COMMUNITY FORESTS IN COLORADO. THIS MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF DEDICATED MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS WHO WORK ON PROGRAMS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANTS; CHAMPION TREES; COMMUNITY FORESTRY EDUCATIONAL EVENTS; REFOREST COLORADO; ARBOR DAY POSTER CONTEST; TREE RISK ASSESSMENT; SELECT TREE EVALUATIONS AND TREES ACROSS COLORADO.
TO LEAD STATEWIDE EFFORTS TO PRESERVE, RENEW AND ENHANCE COMMUNITY FORESTS IN COLORADO.
Trees Across Colorado distributed over 1,125 trees to 15 groups and communities across Colorado. A Community Grants and Reforestation Program where 10 grants totaling $34,275 including four Xcel Foundation Grants totaling $24,000 were facilitated. A Community Education Program that continues to make great strides with getting the word out on proper tree selection, planting and management topics. Conferences and workshops sponsored by the CTC included the Greeley Tree Care Workshop, and the Eastern and Western Colorado Community Forestry Conferences. Tree loving cyclists enjoyed a beautiful fall ride October 8th, 2017 on the 18th annual CTC bike ride Tour de Poudre. 46 riders pedaled 1,500 miles and raised a little over $ 4,000 for trees. Esther Williamson, a fifth grader from Hoehne Elementary School in Hoehne, CO near Trinidad was selected as the winner of the 2017 Colorado Arbor Day Poster Contest. Esthers poster was on display at the State Capitol from April 19th through May 1st along with the posters of the other 47 state finalists.
