Organizations Filed Purposes: Membership Educational/Information Services: NCTA conducts multiple working group meetings at various sites around the country for all segments of the coal transportation industry. These working groups provide relevant information on current operations and technology and allow for networking opportunities. The Coal Transporter Magazine is produced on a semi-annual basis to inform members and non-members of relevant issues for the industry. NCTAs website has archives of past conferences and initiatives that are available to the membership. Current issues and special projects are undertaken at the direction of the Board of Directors on behalf of the membership interests.

Fall and Spring Conferences - Education conferences focusing on issues related to the transportation infrastructure used to move coal from the mining regions to consuming regions in the United States and Canada. Approximately 150 - 150 participants attend these conferences.

Operation and Maintenance (O and M) Conference - focusing on educating paticipants on the operation and maintenance of rail car equipment. The conference also provides a forum for rail car owners and railroad companies to discuss maintenance standards for rail equipment. 90 - 100 participants attend each conference.
