The primary exempt purpose of the Bethany Lutheran Church Foundation is to provide a permanent financial resource to strengthen and expand the mission of Bethany Lutheran Church congregation by providing additional stewardship opportunities for congregation members and friends of Bethany. Expenditures are made to further the education of members attending seminaries and undergraduate colleges through scholarship support. In addition, expenditures of the Foundation are envisioned as being for projects or undertakings which would seem likely to enrich, or uplift in some special way, the spiritual life of the Bethany Lutheran Church congregation; which would provide some worthy addition or improvement to the facilities of Bethany Lutheran Church, that are beyond achievement through other channels, or which would give needed assistance or support to a worthy individual, family, or Christian enterprise.
To provide and establish stewardship opportunities to Bethany Lutheran Church.
For 2019, ministry grants were awarded in the amount of $32,030 and consisted of the following: $11,000 to St Mark's Lutheran Church; $5,000 to Centus Counseling; $5,000 to Urban Servant Corp; $3,680 to Bethany Lutheran Church plus an additional $2,500 to support the Bethany MOPS program; $5,000 to Lutheran Family Services; $2,000 to Rainbow Trails Lutheran Camp; and $1,000 to the Rocky Mountain Synod. Also, two grants from 2018 were returned -- $1,400 to the Global Mission Ministry Team at Bethany Lutheran Church for the Haiti mission trip; $1,750 to Auraria Campus Ministry which were recorded as credits in this account, thus reducing the expense for the year.
Seminary and undergraduate scholarships which benefited 4 seminary students and 3 undergraduate students attending Evangelical Lutheran Church in America institutions.
