Civic Engagement Citizens Project provides election education resources for the community. The signature voter guide reaches more than 180,000 people by being published in the Colorado Springs Business Journal, Colorado Springs Independent, in other community newspapers, and online. Other nonpartisan election education programs include forums for candidates and to debate ballot measures. Each election Citizens Project engages underrepresented voters though get-out-the-vote work.
Education/Advocacy Citizens Project runs ongoing programs to educate the community and advocate for our values. We watchdog local government and public schools to ensure that equality, diversity, and separation of church and state are being upheld. Programming is responsive to current events and seeks to localize issues of national importance. Activities range from hosting panel discussions or film screenings to urging local elected officials to uphold laws that protect equality. The Activist Network alerts citizens to speak out in a timely way on legislation at the state and local level. Publication of Legislative Report Card informs the community of how they are represented on issues that reflect their values. Over fifty "table captains" invite guests to learn about Citizens Project's efforts in the community and enjoy a meal together. It is also a fundraising event and as the end of the program, guests are invited to invest in the cause by making a donation.
Separation of Church and State Citizens Project is a unique local resource on separation of church and state, particularly in the public schools. Citizens Project frequently facilitates seminars in public schools and universities on ensuring a religiously neutral learning environment.
