SOAR Orphanage Project: In 2019 the Evergreen SOAR (Special needs, Orphaned, or Abandoned children's Resources) project continued to aim to see the end of abandonment in Shanxi province and to care for those precious children who have been abandoned. In 2019, Evergreen continued its partnership with the local orphanage providing tailored, specialized care for over 50 children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. The SOAR program also continues to facilitate regular consultations with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists that coordinate and revise each child's Personalized Care Plan and train the caregivers in how to implement those plans. Expenses continued to decrease in 2019 due in part to the local orphanage, per an agreement with Evergreen, underwriting a portion of the expenses. SOAR completed the process of incubating a new local entity to expand the work of SOAR beyond the scope of the current Evergreen Chinese business license. The two-year incubation period ended on Sept 13, 2019 (two years from the trigger date of the incubation period owing to a rent payment for 71,000 RMB per contract on record with Capin Crouse). On December 31, 2019 (the extended time granted owing to Evergreen's calendar year filing), the local staff members currently employed by Evergreen terminated their employment with Evergreen and transfer employment to the local entity.
Joy in the Journey (JJ) Camp: JJ camp provides educational service to school-aged youth between 5th and 12th grades in an environment saturated with the love of Christ. Education is not limited to English only, but also the Life Education curriculum for healthy living, as well as various challenges designed to increase students' ability to apply creativity to new situations, work as a team, and discover leadership skills.
Yangqu Regional Economic Development (RED) Project: Effective January 31, 2019, this project was transferred to a new local related Evergreen entity. In 2019 RED continues to serve and impact families and individuals, especially through activities held at the community center, including an English Corner, reading clubs, parenting class, kindergarten activities, various summer activities, and programs for elders, under the management of the local entity.
