Organizations Filed Purposes: CEI WORKS TO ACCELERATE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH INNOVATION, COLLABORATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING.WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH A WIDE ARRAY OF PARTNERS, INCLUDING THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, SCHOOL DISTRICTS, AND OTHERS, THE COLORADO EDUCATION INITIATIVE (CEI) ACCELERATES INNOVATION AND IMPROVEMENT IN COLORADO'S K-12 SCHOOLS. CEI'S VISION IS THAT EVERY STUDENT IN COLORADO IS PREPARED AND UNAFRAID TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL, WORK, AND LIFE, AND READY TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGES OF TODAY, TOMORROW, AND BEYOND.

THE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING & CAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVE, WHICH INCLUDES THE ACCELERATOR PROJECT, PARTNERS WITH TEACHERS, SCHOOL AND DISTRICT LEADERS, AND EDUCATION ORGANIZATIONS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS THE STATE TO IMPROVE INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICE AND MEET PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NEEDS. THIS HAPPENS THROUGH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COACHING, ADVANCING DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION EFFORTS, AND THE UTILIZATION OF DATA TO INFORM INSTRUCTION AND DECISION-MAKING. THE PURPOSE IS TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS' ACADEMIC AND NONACADEMIC COMPETENCIES THROUGH INNOVATIVE AND IMPROVED LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND ALIGN SYSTEMS TO BE RESPONSIVE TO NEEDS.

THE COLORADO LEGACY SCHOOLS (CLS) INITIATIVE WORKS WITH HIGH SCHOOLS ACROSS THE STATE TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE THE NUMBER AND DIVERSITY OF COLORADO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO ARE SUCCEEDING IN AP MATH, SCIENCE, AND ENGLISH COURSES -- ESPECIALLY STUDENTS TYPICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED IN AP COURSES SUCH AS FEMALES, AND STUDENTS OF POVERTY AND COLOR. CLS COURSEWORK ALSO ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO PURSUE MAJORS AND CAREERS IN THE RAPIDLY-GROWING STEM FIELDS -- SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH. CLS IS A LOCAL REPLICATION OF THE NATIONAL MATH + SCIENCE INITIATIVE'S COLLEGE READINESS PROGRAM.

THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS INITIATIVE CONNECTS EDUCATORS WITH PROMISING PRACTICES TO INCREASE STUDENTS' OVERALL PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL WELLNESS. IT MAKES CLEAR THE CRITICAL LINK BETWEEN HEALTH AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, AND PROMOTES POSITIVE SCHOOL CLIMATES AND BEST PRACTICES IN HEALTHY SCHOOLS. THE INITIATIVE WORKS TOWARD A SYSTEMIC, STRATEGIC, AND COORDINATED APPROACH TO SUPPORTING STUDENTS, WHICH INCLUDES SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, NUTRITIONAL, PHYSICAL, AND SAFETY WELLNESS.
