Organizations Filed Purposes:
CLLAROs mission is to empower Latinos through leadership development, advocacy, and policy research to strengthen Colorado. Our vision for the future is a State of Colorado where Latinos achieve their fullest potential.
The CLLARO Capitol Fellows Program trained and placed 15 college-level interns with state legislators in 2019. Evaluation indicated that the Fellows gained knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to develop and promote public policies benefiting Colorados Latino communities
In 2019, the CLLARO Parents Advocating for Local Schools (PALS) program trained English and Spanish-speaking parents, most of whom were African-American or Latino minorities, to facilitate and advocate for improved education outcomes for their children who attend under-resourced public schools.
The CLLARO Community Health Advocacy Program (CHAP) continued helping local volunteers and nonprofit agencies to start health improvement projects in Spanish-speaking communities. CLLARO began gathering information for a public director of Latino organizations in Colorado, preparatory to organizing a public policy advocacy network addressing concerns of Latinos throughout the state.
