Providing charitable and educational activities that benefit the health and welfare of the people of Nepal.
Education: Progress Center Nepal, a Nepali NGO, completed their assessment of their teacher training program for Darkha's primary school teachers. In addition, CNA completed a perimeter fence for Nimal Chyat Basic school in Brichet.
Collected hiking boots for our Shoes for Sherpas program. This program has distributed over 3000 pairs of hiking boots and running shoes to Nepali porters and villagers. Collection sites are set up at a few locations in metro Denver. Footwear that was transported to Nepal in 2019 by a volunteer was unfortunately confiscated at the airport. We are now focusing on developing a partnership with a footwear manufacturer so that we can provide new shoes or boots to Nepali porters and villagers. We do not anticipate any issues with bringing new footwear into Nepal.
Women's Health Camp: Virtually no money was spent on this project, but planning and fundraising for the health camp was our main focus in 2019. We decided on a Nepali NGO to run the health camp, and signed a contract with them in December 2019. We also started locating Nepali physicians and nurses to staff the health camp. We created equipment, medication, and supplies checklists and the local NGO identified suppliers for everything that will be purchased in-country. Dates in late February 2020 for the health camp were approved by the local government.
