Organizations Filed Purposes: THE PURPOSE OF THE COLORADO PERINATAL CARE QUALITY COLLABORATIVE IS TO PROMOTE AND ADVANCE PERINATAL CARE IN THE STATE OF COLORADO.

COLORADO PERINATAL CARE QUALITY COLLABORATIVE (CPCQC) IS A STATEWIDE NONPROFIT NETWORK OF HOSPITALS, HEALTHCARE FACILITIES, CLINICIANS, AND PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS THAT IMPROVES THE HEALTH OF WOMEN AND INFANTS THROUGH CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT. OUR VISION IS THAT EVERY WOMAN, INFANT, AND THEIR FAMILY IN COLORADO HAVE ACCESS TO AND RECEIVE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PERINATAL CARE.

AS OF SEPTEMBER 2020, 46% OF COLORADO BIRTHING FACILITIES WERE PARTICIPATING IN AT LEAST ONE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE LED BY CPCQC. SIXTY PERCENT OF ALL BIRTHS IN COLORADO HAPPEN AT FACILITIES PARTICIPATING IN THE COLLABORATIVE. THE NUMBER OF BIRTHS AT THESE FACILITIES RANGE FROM 150 TO OVER 4,000 PER YEAR. THE PARTICIPATING FACILITIES ARE GEOGRAPHICALLY DIVERSE. CPCQC HAS PARTICIPATING FACILITIES IN TWENTY-SEVEN OF COLORADO'S SIXTY-FOUR COUNTIES, SIX OF WHICH ARE RURAL AND TWENTY-ONE OF WHICH ARE URBAN. THEY REPRESENT ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS, LARGE HEALTH SYSTEMS, AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS. OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, CPCQC HOSTED 74 EVENTS; INCLUDING SITE VISITS, COACHING CALLS, COMMITTEE MEETINGS, AND INTRODUCTORY MEETINGS. PARTICIPATING FACILITIES HAVE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT POSITIVE OUTCOMES, REDUCING VARIATION IN CARE AND OUTCOMES WITHIN FACILITIES AND ACROSS THE STATE. NOTABLE OUTCOMES INCLUDE: "SOAR HOSPITALS REDUCED THE NTSV CESAREAN RATE FROM 25.4% TO 22.9% AND REDUCED VARIATION IN THE RATE BETWEEN THE MONTHS. "100% OF OPIOID EXPOSED NEWBORNS(OEN) IN CHOSEN QIC HOSPITALS RECEIVED NON-PHARMACOLOGIC TREATMENT, AND ONLY 26% REQUIRED PHARMACOLOGIC CARE (DOWN FROM 42% AT BASELINE). THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF HOSPITAL STAY FOR OENS WAS 7.96 DAYS, DOWN FROM 14 AT BASELINE. "CHOSEN QIC OUTCOMES WERE PUBLISHED IN HOSPITAL PEDIATRICS: S.S. HWANG ET AL. 2020. THE COLORADO HOSPITALS SUBSTANCE EXPOSED NEWBORN QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COLLABORATIVE: STANDARDIZATION OF CARE FOR OPIOID-EXPOSED NEWBORNS SHORTENS LENGTH OF STAY AND REDUCES NUMBER OF INFANTS REQUIRING OPIATE THERAPY.
