IN 2020, THE COMMUNITY FIRM, DBA THE COVID-19 EVICTION DEFENSE PROJECT MANAGED EXPERIMENTAL RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS BOTH IN-HOUSE AND THROUGH COMMUNITY PARTNERS. THE IN-HOUSE PROGRAM UTILIZED A HYBRID GRANT-LOAN STRCUTURE WITH ALL LOANS FORGIVEN IN 2021. THE EXTERNAL PROGRAM OPERATED THROUGH COUNTY GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND SOUGHT TO STABILIZE TENANTS THROUGH GRANTS THAT PAID PAST AND FUTURE RENT, OFTEN AT A REDUCTION OF FULL FACE VALUE. RENTAL ASSISTANCE WAS FREQUENTLY PAIRED WITH TENANT LEGAL SERVICES AND OTHER ADVIOSRY SUPPORT.
