TO EMPOWER AMERICAN INDIAN YOUTH, ELDERS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITY BY PROMOTING SELF-DETERMINATION AND ECONOMIC, MENTAL, AND PHYSICAL HEALTH THROUGH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND CULTURAL ENRICHMENT.
HONORING FATHERHOOD PROGRAM: THE HONORING FATHERHOOD PROGRAM (HFP) WAS ESTABLISHED TO EQUIP AND ENCOURAGE FATHERS TO LIVE WITH INTEGRITY AND PURPOSE, AND TO STRENGTHEN THE FAMILIES, HOMES AND COMMUNITIES THEY ARE A PART OF.OUR CURRICULUM HELPS PARTICIPANTS GAIN A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF RELATIONSHIPS AND PARENTING WITHIN A CULTURAL CONTEXT. HFP'S APPROACH IS TO BRING BACK AN OLD MESSAGE THAT EMPHASIZES THE SACREDNESS OF FATHERHOOD AND EQUIPS ITS PARTICIPANTS WITH REAL WORLD SKILLS AND SUPPORT FOR SUCCESS IN THEIR CAREERS, COMMUNITIES, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THEIR FAMILIES. OUR PROGRAMS ACT AS A GUIDE IN ESTABLISHING PRIORITIES, PRACTICES AND ACTIVITIES THAT PUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS FIRST.
NATIVE WORKFORCE PROGRAM: THE NATIVE WORKFORCE PROGRAM (NWP) IS AN ADULT WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) PROGRAM FUNDED DIRECTLY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (DOL). THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO SUPPORT COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES BECAUSE A SKILLED WORKFORCE IS CRITICAL TO THE FUTURE OF OUR NATIVE COMMUNITIES.
YOUTH SERVICES AND FAMILY AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE: THE DENVER INDIAN CENTER IS AN URBAN CULTURAL GATHERING CENTER FOR THE AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE COMMUNITY OF THE DENVER METRO AREA. FOUNDED IN 1983 TO MEET THE UNIQUE NEEDS AND CHALLENGES FACING THE NATIVE COMMUNITY, WE SUPPORT OUR NATIVE YOUTH AND COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING GUIDANCE FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND SELF-RELIANCE, PROGRAMS THAT EMPOWER FAMILIES AND HONOR OUR ELDERS, AND BY OFFERING A SPACE WHERE NATIVE CULTURE CAN BE PRESERVED AND CELEBRATED.
