Organizations Filed Purposes: Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities Who Have Experienced Abuse

In response to multiple barriers faced by abuse survivors with disabilities to reach safety and stability, The Initiative's direct service is rooted in Accessible Culturally Responsive Trauma-Informed values and we provide outreach training to make the community more accessible and inclusive. The direct services focus is on safety, self-sufficiency, criminal justice system support, and healing & recovery. In 2019, The Initiative served 386 primary survivors with disabilities, and 305 of their children who are the secondary survivors, and took 2,247 crisis calls. The Initiative provided presentations to 66 different service providers, which includes entities of the criminal justice system, community organizations, and academic institutions, with 1,036 audience members.
