Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Foundation was created in December 1993 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and re-established in August 2017, to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. The Foundation is a supporting foundation to Donor Alliance, the federally designated nonprofit organization that facilitates organ and tissue donation in Colorado and most of Wyoming. Donor Alliance invests significantly in public education in Colorado and Wyoming and the foundation will build upon those efforts through grantmaking to in-need populations across Colorado and Wyoming.
The Donor Alliance Foundation mission is to build partnerships and break down barriers to influence change that will positively affect the donation and transplant community. Our vision is to ensure those affected by organ and tissue donation are acknowledged, supported and given access to resources that enable the gift of life.
Education. The Donor Alliance Foundation provides funding in education about donation and transplantation as a pathway for resources and access to services through nonprofit community health-serving organizations, federally qualified health centers, governmental agencies and other nonprofit service providers.
Family Assistance. The Donor Alliance Foundation provides funding for grief assistance and compassion support for donor families through nonprofit community health serving organizations; other nonprofit organizations doing work with donation and transplantation. It will meet the needs of people or families requiring assistance, who are waiting for a transplant through food vouchers, housing and medication assistance, etc. and the needs of people or families requiring assistance post-transplant. It will aim to meet the needs of living donors and potential living donors through food vouchers, housing assistance, etc. and provide funding to social workers to support people or families requiring assistance with housing, medication, food, etc.
Research. The Donor Alliance Foundation provides funding for social and clinical research and technology to support advancements and innovation in the field of organ donation and transplantation. Given the amount of dollars available, typically these are seed grants to gather data and information to apply for larger, national funding.
