Donor Alliance saves lives through organ and tissue donation. Donor Alliance is one of 57 Federally designated, non-profit organ procurement organizations serving Colorado and most of Wyoming. Additionally, it is a member of and accredited by both the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
Donor Alliance saves lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation
Donor Alliance is a leader in facilitating the donation and recovery of transplantable organs and tissues. With nearly 108,000 people awaiting transplantation throughout the country, and 1,540 in the states of Colorado and Wyoming as of December 2020, Donor Alliance is dedicated and focused on recovering lifesaving organs for those in need. In order to fulfill its mission of saving lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation, Donor Alliance establishes and maintains strong relationships with donor hospitals helping the hospital maximize their donation opportunities. In addition, Donor Alliance deploys an effective family approach and recovery programs in more than 115 hospitals in the two state area. Donor alliance facilitated the donation and recovery of 622 organ transplants from 215 local organ donors and an additional 140 organ transplants from other states. 1899 local tissue donors enabled countless lives to be saved and healed. The organization reported an 62.5% authorization rate, the rate at which families say yes to donation when approached.
Community Relations and Public Education: Donor Alliance works to educate the and inspire the public to register as organ and tissue donors through community partnerships, public outreach, and education campaigns throughout its service area. All programs include a call to action to join the Colorado or Wyoming registry. During 2020, Colorado was named #1 and Wyoming #3 in the nation in donor designations based on 2019 data. Colorado ended 2020 with 68.25% of the population registered to be a donor, and Wyoming ended the year with 62.14%of the population registered to be a donor.
