Organizations Filed Purposes:
The purpose of the EAFAF is to support East High School in Achieving its mission, to work in partnership with the school to foster community, to promote student achievement, to foster alumni relations,to expand the support base, to preserve and promote the history of the school and its alumni,
In coordination with Principal Youngquist and East's Facilities Department, EAFAF facilitated the replacement of the outdated projector and screen in the school's auditorium. Working with an outside consultant and school staff, EAFAF directed the design, executed the capital funding campaign, and assisted DPS with bidding and installing the project. East High School has over 2,400 students, and every student utilizes the auditorium on a regular basis.
For the 2019-2020 school year, EAFAF Faculty/staff grant committee received 46 grant applications totalling over $158,000. EAFAF fully or partially funded 24 grants for approximately $50,000. These funds enhanced student achievement in music, dance, english, math, business, library, athletics, languages, theater, counseling and other departments.
The East Angel Friends and Alumni Foundation provides scholarships to deserving graduating students who have attended East High School a minimum of three years and exhibit excellence in academics as well as strong participation in school and or community activities, and the student must demonstrate character and commitment to their education. Family members of EAFAF board are not elibible for these scholarships. For the 2020 scholarship awards, there were 55 applicants and EAFAF awarded 22 new individual scholarships & 4 renewed scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $25,000 for a total of $161,000 awarded.
