Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of the Greenway Foundation is to advance the South Platte River and surrounding tributaries as a unique environmental, recreational, cultural, scientific and historical amenity that uniquely links Denver's past and future.The mission will be accomplished by creating ongoing environmental and riprarian enhancements, holding real estate, when needed, in conservation easements; utilizing the river as an outdoor and historical learning resource; hosting free cultural events promoting the river and music, art and theatre; providing youth employment opportunities; and by promoting good stewardship through hands on educational programs.

Other program services and projects:The Water Connection - Water resources and policy initiative of the Foundation. The Water Connection is a regional venture that fosters civic action and technological innovation for the various Colorado watersheds and promotes and facilitates regenerative water systems, improved water quality, and sustainable water infrastructure.Chatfield Environmental Pool - the Foundation and Denver Water jointly initiated a fund drive to add an additional 500 acre feet of environmental storage in Chatfield Reservoir. Cherry Creek Stewardship Partners - The Cherry Creek Stewardship Partners have initiated innovative stormwater and flood control projects in Colorado. The Partners bring students and area residents to the Creek (its banks, parks, and main channel) to learn about the history and ecology of the Cherry Creek watershed.

SPREE program:South Platte River Environmental Education ("SPREE") provides education programs to children on the South Platte River in Denver. Spree aims to develop a positive relationship between the S Platte River and Denver area citizens through school excursions, weekend events, and summer camps.

USACE Feasibility study:The foundation is facilitating the study, assisting Denver with federal relations and public outreach. The focus of the study includes ecosystem restoration improvements and flood control containment opportunities. This collaborative effort, with the City and county of Denver, and the US Army Corps of Engineers, will help continue to maximize the reclamation and safety of the River and two of its most significant tributaries - The South Platte River, East Harvard Gulch, and Weir Gulch in Denver
